The Credit One Charleston Open has always been as much about the scene as the sport. This year, Southern Tide turned that truth into retail strategy, planting a pop-up shop at First Serve Plaza, the open-air gathering point at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island, where fans filter in before the first ball is struck and linger long after the final point.

The activation, which ran during the tournament's opening week in early April, brought Southern Tide's Spring 2026 collection to a crowd that moves between clay-court bleachers and post-match drinks without changing clothes. It is, in effect, a live laboratory for coastal grandmother dressing: the aesthetic that prizes natural fabrics, unhurried tailoring, and a palette borrowed from the tidal marsh surrounding Daniel Island.

The collection's own positioning, "from court to cocktails and office to ocean," maps almost exactly onto coastal grandmother wardrobe logic. Southern Tide's linen-rayon sport shirts, including the Sunset Ridge in Tide Blue and the Cedar Island Plaid, each priced at $148, sit well below the traditional luxury coastal tier while still offering the breathability and drape a full day in stadium sun demands. Original Southern Tide prints anchored the range alongside crisp stripes and soft nautical solids in salt white and navy, neutrals that read cleanly in bright coastal light and resist the visual fatigue of louder resort prints.

For the coastal grandmother edit specifically, the strongest reads at First Serve Plaza came from the layering pieces. A lightweight linen button-down worn open over a fitted shell handles the temperature swings that are standard coastal April fare, where Daniel Island mornings can run noticeably cooler than the afternoon. Pair it with tailored shorts or a straight linen skirt, leather sandals, and a wide-brimmed straw hat, and the formula travels from the 200-level seats to Hotel COCO, the secret-garden hospitality lounge tucked inside the stadium, without a single wardrobe change.

Packing for this kind of coastal event is its own discipline. A thin merino cardigan thrown over linen is the formula: lightweight enough to compress flat in a weekend bag, substantial enough to make the whole look feel intentional once the evening breeze off the water sharpens. The cardigan over a striped sport shirt, with a tailored short and a leather slide, is arguably Southern Tide's most transferable coastal grandmother silhouette because it requires no statement pieces, only considered basics in the right weight and color.

The First Serve Plaza placement was shrewd. It catches arriving fans before they settle into their seats, when the impulse to buy is high and the mood is generous. Jessica Pegula went on to close out the 2026 tournament title on April 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 final over Yuliia Starodubtseva, but for a stretch of tournament week, Southern Tide's table of linen-rayon sport shirts likely drew as long a look as the warm-up courts alongside it.
