Jimmy Fairly has landed exactly where eyewear feels most current: oversized, polished and just dramatic enough to read as part of the outfit. The Paris-based brand, which calls itself a French optician since 2010, has been leaning into the return of bigger frames as slim ’90s silhouettes fade, and its appeal now stretches from off-duty celebrity dressing to a sharper statement-accessory lane.

The momentum is easy to trace. Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa and Lauren Fisher have all been photographed in the brand’s frames, helping push Jimmy Fairly beyond functional sunglasses into the territory of recognizable style shorthand. At the same time, the company’s own sites show a broad merchandising push across the United States and international markets, with oversized, aviator and sunglass collections presented as both designed and assembled in its Parisian studio and sold online and in stores.

The timing could hardly be better. WWD reported in late April that oversized bug-eye sunglasses are back in a major way for 2026, replacing the barely-there ’90s look that dominated eyewear for years. That matters because the comeback is not just about scale. Bug-eye frames bring a softer theatricality, shield shapes push the sport-luxe angle, and exaggerated acetate gives the face a more architectural edge. Jimmy Fairly sits neatly in that shift, offering the kind of volume that feels fashion-aware without tipping into costume.

Its new collaboration with Missoma sharpens that position. The limited-edition Jimmy Fairly x Missoma collection launched in mid-May 2026 and includes two signature sunglass styles inside a five-piece, jewelry-inspired eyewear capsule. Missoma describes the project as balancing statement design with everyday wearability, which is precisely why it reads as timely: the frames have enough presence to anchor a look, but not so much weight that they become difficult to wear with the easy tailoring, second-skin denim and sun-faded separates that currently define relaxed dressing.

The partnership also fits Missoma’s broader collaborations playbook, which has included Lucy Williams, Harris Reed, MARKGONG and Savi. For Jimmy Fairly, the capsule adds another layer to a growth story that has already attracted corporate attention. In 2022, HLD entered exclusive talks with Jimmy Fairly founders and Experienced Capital to buy a majority stake in the French eyewear brand, a sign that the label’s mix of accessible pricing, Paris design language and fashion credibility had become hard to ignore.
