At €3,700 to start, Loro Piana's Extra Softy makes its case entirely through touch. The bag, introduced as part of the Spring/Summer 2026 assortment, is an elongated evolution of the house's existing Extra Bag silhouette, arriving in two proportions, L33 and L44, with no logomania in sight. What it offers instead is a lesson in material authority that few Italian houses can still credibly give.
The standout construction choice is the Wish Cash Double Chevron, a handcrafted fabric woven from Loro Piana's proprietary Wish wool and cashmere blend and finished with a subtle chevron pattern. It sits alongside smooth butter calf, soft fine-grained leather, satin and woven leather as the Extra Softy's material options, each chosen for its tactile distinction rather than visual drama. The four colorways, Fossil, Ancient Sandstone, Dark Chocolate Licorice and Baby Cashmere, are so precisely calibrated to the neutral palettes dominating seasonless luxury wardrobes that the choice itself reads as an editorial statement.
Hardware is kept deliberate: a vintage-style leather keyring carrying the Ghiera charm, a wide zip closure anchored by a three-dimensional gold padlock engraved with the brand's initials, and a fully detachable, adjustable strap that attaches via a bridge-inspired hook mirroring the handle's own curve. It is the kind of considered construction that rewards close inspection without demanding it.

The Spring 2026 campaign reinforces the same positioning. Photographer Mario Sorrenti shot it in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Provence, across two locations with deep art-world histories: the Colombe d'Or hotel, long a gathering place for Georges Braque, Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso, and the private Fondation Maeght. "The Loro Piana collection finds its home and an effortless elegance emerges, intertwined with creation," Sorrenti said of the setting. The decision to place a new bag within a landscape associated with Giacometti, Chagall and Léger is not accidental; it positions the Extra Softy within a continuum of craft rather than the churn of seasonal trend.
