Worthing Petite Fashion Entrepreneur Collects Award From Dragons' Den Star Theo Paphitis
Worthing founder Danielle Plowman collected her Small Business Sunday certificate in person from Dragons' Den star Theo Paphitis, calling it "a moment I'll treasure forever."
Danielle Plowman stood face to face with retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis at the Small Business Sunday winners' event and walked away with something more than a certificate. For the Worthing founder of The Petite Lady, a fashion hub built around petite-sized dressing, the moment crystallised why she had poured herself into growing a business that most of the high street had long ignored.
Plowman won the #SBS Small Business Sunday award in 2025, but it was attending the winners' event in person to collect her certificate from Paphitis that gave the recognition its full weight. "Winning #SBS and being recognised by Theo was an incredibly proud moment for me," she said. "Becoming part of such a supportive community of small business owners has been so inspiring, and attending the event to collect my certificate in person was truly special – a moment I'll treasure forever."
The accolade places The Petite Lady within a community that has grown considerably since Paphitis, best known as a former Dragon on the BBC's Dragons' Den, launched the Small Business Sunday initiative in 2010. The programme now counts more than 4,500 small business winners across the UK. Each week, Paphitis selects six businesses and shares them with his combined social media following of hundreds of thousands, delivering a concentrated burst of visibility to enterprises that rarely have marketing budgets to match their ambition.

Beyond the social media reach, SBS winners gain access to networking opportunities and a community of fellow founders navigating the particular pressures of running small businesses in the UK. For a niche operation like The Petite Lady, that kind of peer infrastructure carries its own value alongside the public exposure.
Plowman continues to expand The Petite Lady's reach, with the platform helping thousands of women find petite-friendly fashion and, in her own framing, build genuine confidence in their personal style. In a market where standard sizing routinely starts at a 5'4" baseline, a dedicated petite fashion hub fills a gap the mainstream has been slow to close.
