A24 and Koyo Bear Drop Limited Marty Supreme Table Tennis Shoe

The Marty Supreme merchandise rollout saved its most considered piece for last. A24 partnered with Koyo Bear, the Kobe-based table tennis shoe manufacturer founded in 1952, to release a limited reissue of the Sharpman in a Marty Supreme edition, dropping exclusively via the A24 Shop on March 5.

The collaboration carries genuine sport-heritage credibility that earlier Marty Supreme merch couldn't claim. Koyo Bear made the first purpose-built table tennis shoe, the Sharpman, developed alongside 12-time World Champion Ichiro Ogimura, who designed it to emphasize movement, grip, and flexibility. As Esquire noted, Timothée Chalamet's Marty Supreme is set in the same year as Koyo Bear's founding, meaning these are the sort of shoes the character would actually have worn, unlike the color-blocked track jackets that sparked hours-long queues earlier in the film's promotional cycle.

Two colorways were produced, both built on white cotton canvas. The first pairs a white base with orange piping, limited to 850 pairs. The second combines red and blue piping stripes toward the tongue, capped at 1,000 pairs. A wavy, red vulcanized rubber sole runs underfoot on both, providing the grip performance the Sharpman was originally engineered for. A woven tongue tag is stamped with Marty Supreme and A24 branding, while additional nods to the film appear on the inner tongue tag, sockliner, and special packaging. The blue and red version also matches the colorway of the JOOLA tennis table A24 released earlier, for anyone building out the full set.

Every pair was handcrafted in a single small-production batch in Japan, continuing a manufacturing tradition the Sharpman has maintained for nearly seven decades. Starting price is $235 USD, available through the A24 Shop.

At $235, the Sharpman sits at a premium that the construction and provenance can largely justify: handmade in Japan, designed by a world champion, produced in strict edition limits. For context, most heritage canvas sneakers from Japanese artisan makers land in this range without the film tie-in or the edition scarcity. The orange run of 850 pairs is the tighter of the two, and both colorways were widely expected to move fast. The aftermarket on earlier Marty Supreme pieces has been active enough that StockX became the default backup option for late arrivals.

With the 98th Academy Awards now in the rearview, Chalamet's promotional campaign for the film has effectively closed. This shoe, quietly rooted in a real chapter of table tennis history, turned out to be its most wearable artifact.
