Guess Jeans and Hysteric Glamour Blend California Nostalgia With Tokyo Street Edge
Guess Jeans tapped Hysteric Glamour founder Nobuhiko Kitamura to rework its California denim heritage through Tokyo's subversive graphic lens for spring 2026.

When Nobuhiko Kitamura launched Hysteric Glamour in Tokyo in 1984, Guess was already plastering its iconic triangle logo across the denim-soaked billboards of Southern California. Forty-plus years later, both brands finally closed the distance between those two worlds with a Spring 2026 capsule that treats nostalgia as raw material rather than a comfort zone.
The collection reimagines archival Guess Jeans silhouettes through Hysteric Glamour's signature graphic and subversive lens, and the construction tells that story directly in the fabric. Embossed and laser-treated denim is paired with textured, Venice Beach-inspired retro multi-stripe fabrics, while labels are appliquéd over pockets and stitched across pieces like archival stickers, adding a tactile, handcrafted feel. The result sits somewhere between a flea-market score and a collector's archive: deliberate, worn-in, and unapologetically loud.
Accessories span trucker hats and denim bucket hats to a tote bag, bandanas, and key chains, rounding out a range built for full-look commitment rather than a single statement piece.
For the campaign, the brands skipped the obvious Tokyo-meets-LA visual shorthand. Shot at a Los Angeles motel, the campaign moved between a room interior, a constructed studio, and the exterior under West Coast light, capturing the kind of itinerant, between-worlds energy the collection itself carries.

Kitamura was candid about the personal dimension of the project. "Guess Jeans and I have shared the same era," he said. "For this collaboration, I reinterpreted the nostalgia I once felt for Guess Jeans through the lens of Hysteric Glamour. I hope the next generation will enjoy styling these pieces in their own way."
Nicolai Marciano, Guess Jeans' chief new business development officer, framed it as a strategic pairing rather than a nostalgia play. "This collaboration represents a natural synergy between two brands that have always celebrated individuality, youth culture, and bold self-expression," he said. "Bringing together the visual worlds of Guess Jeans and Hysteric Glamour allows us to honor our heritage while creating something new, playful and unexpected for the next generation." Since relaunching Guess Jeans, Marciano's focus had been on placing it in conversation with culture beyond fashion, through collaborations, activations, and a stronger presence in cities like Tokyo.
The collection is available at flagship stores in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Berlin, alongside select retailers and global e-commerce platforms. In a market crowded with heritage-brand revivals, the Guess Jeans x Hysteric Glamour capsule earns its moment by letting two distinct graphic languages genuinely argue with each other rather than politely coexist.
