Hellstar x Adidas Superstar Goes Punk in Fiery "Hazy Orange" Colorway

Hellstar's first crack at the adidas Superstar arrives tomorrow, April 1, and it refuses to be subtle. The LA1501, dropping at $200 on adidas.com and at select boutiques, recasts one of sneaker culture's most storied silhouettes in a monochrome orange leather from shell toe to heel, then layers on enough punk iconography to make the original 1969 design feel like a distant ancestor.

The design language is Hellstar at full volume. Flame overlays lick across the lateral side of the upper while graffiti-style sketches sprawl across the leather, giving the shoe the texture of a tagged wall rather than a clean archive reissue. The brand's affinity for fire-and-brimstone imagery translates surprisingly well onto a shell-toe canvas; the curved toe box becomes almost totemic when rendered entirely in that scorched, hazy orange.

Details at the sole and tongue push the collaboration further into its own territory. The midsole is translucent, breaking the monochrome spell just enough to reveal the construction underneath, while the outsole carries the "HELLSTAR" name spelled out in full across both shoes. At the tongue, a neon-green "PATH TO PARADISE" tag provides the sharpest visual contrast in the colorway, a flash of acid green against all that burnt orange that feels deliberate and a little confrontational. Multiple lace options ship with the pair, which at a standard Superstar silhouette already signals that customization, not preservation, is the point.

At $200, the LA1501 sits roughly $70 to $80 above what a standard adidas Superstar commands at retail, a premium that reflects the Hellstar name and the build complexity rather than just licensing math. The translucent components alone represent a meaningful deviation from the original construction. Given Hellstar's track record of rapid sell-outs and the Superstar's perennial crossover appeal, the gap between retail and resale is expected to widen quickly after the April 1 release window closes.

Whether the "Hazy Orange" reads as punk provocation or collector trophy may depend entirely on how it's worn; on foot, that translucent outsole spelling out the brand name with every step makes a fairly unambiguous statement either way.
