Marcos Montoya’s adidas Superstar ADV gets skate-ready maroon update
Marcos Montoya’s Superstar ADV swaps shell-toe nostalgia for skate armor, with Adituff, a cupsole, and a $110 tag that actually makes sense.

The Superstar finally has a job again. Marcos Montoya’s adidas Superstar ADV lands in maroon and core black with the kind of skate-specific hardware that makes the old shell toe feel less like a museum piece and more like something meant to get scraped up on purpose.
Montoya, the Florida skater adidas tapped for the project, gets a crimson-and-black take on one of the most recognized sneakers in the world, but the real move is underneath the color. The Superstar ADV brings hidden Adituff in high-wear zones, double-stitched eyestay seams, an updated tongue construction, and a molded EVA sockliner. adidas also built it with a flexible cupsole for grip, flick, and the kind of board control that makes a shoe feel dialed instead of decorative.
That matters because the Superstar has spent years drifting between lifestyle staple and overexposed icon. Montoya’s pair pushes it back toward function, and that shift is exactly what keeps a classic from going stale. The black hits sharpen the maroon upper, while the construction details do the quiet work: reinforcement where skaters tear shoes apart, comfort where long sessions punish feet, and enough board feel to make the whole thing more than a color swap.
The shoe released on May 1, 2026 through adidas and select skate shops, in-store and online, with unisex sizing and a retail price of $110. That price sits in a familiar skate-shoe range, but this is where the upgrade story matters. For $110, you are not paying for nostalgia alone. You are buying a reworked Superstar built to take abuse, not just sit on feet looking familiar.

Montoya’s version is the rare adidas move that makes a globally known silhouette feel useful again. The Superstar ADV still reads instantly as the same hardcourt classic, but the reinforced build and skate-first tuning give it a reason to exist beyond the archive.
