Aoyama 107 folds the Madrid and Arizona together and takes its name from sacai’s Aoyama store in Tokyo. Cassette 75 fuses the Arizona with the Boston clog and nods to Rue Cassette, where sacai’s Paris headquarters sits. That naming matters: Abe has always preferred a hybrid that carries a place, not just a shape, and here the references root the sandals in Tokyo and Paris at once. The Boston’s 50th anniversary in 2026 only sharpens the timing, giving the clog a new life just as it reaches a milestone year.

The styling stayed in sacai’s lane. The sandals came in neutral tones, with some pairs finished in Dr. Woo-designed patterned uppers, a smart callback to the tattoo artist’s 2020 collaboration with sacai, when the label released bandana patterns built around universe and constellation motifs. Birkenstock and sacai had also worked together in the 2010s on chunkier, strap-heavy sandals, but this version feels more precise, with the extra strap layers doing the work of both ornament and construction.

The collaboration extends beyond footwear into a Birkenstock x sacai utility bag offered in two sizes, made from the same natural and suede leathers and finished in taupe and black. That detail gives the project a cleaner commercial logic than a one-off show sneaker: the bag ties the range together without flattening the shoes’ oddness.
