Starbucks and BEAMS expand Kenya-themed streetwear collection for SS26

Starbucks and BEAMS turned the Kenya story into a 25-piece SS26 wardrobe, with a wild hooded blouson and graphic tees that read like real streetwear, not café merch.

Starbucks and BEAMS are back with a bigger, sharper Kenya capsule, and this one finally feels like it wants to live outside the café. The STARBUCKS STAND by BEAMS Seasonal Collection for SS26 lands as a 25-piece, 11-style wardrobe built around a crazy-pattern hooded blouson, open-collar shirts, animal-print tees, bucket hats, caps, sandals, bandanas and drawstring bags. It is the kind of drop that makes sense whether you know the coffee partnership or not, which is exactly why it works.

This is the second Seasonal Collection from the project, which BEAMS says began in September 2025, and the jump from the first Kenya-themed run is massive. The 2025 A/W collection came in at 6 styles and 13 items. SS26 nearly doubles the scope, and that scale matters because it pushes the collaboration away from novelty and closer to a real seasonal wardrobe. Starbucks Japan ties the Kenya theme to one of its representative coffee origins and says the country has been part of Starbucks’ presence in Japan since the company arrived there. That gives the project a built-in narrative, but the clothes do the heavier lifting.

The best pieces are the ones that mutiny against easy branding. BEAMS calls out a hooded shirt-blouson inspired by Kenyan national dress, and that sounds like the sleeper hit of the lineup: familiar enough to wear, strange enough to matter. The T-shirts with Africa-map graphics, flamingo and coffee-bean motifs, and elephant imagery lean harder into print, but they stop short of souvenir-shop cheese. That’s the trick here. Starbucks and BEAMS are using the Kenya theme as a design engine, not just a surface treatment.

The collection goes on sale May 22 at 10:00 JST through the Starbucks official online store and selected BEAMS stores, including a new permanent stock point at BEAMS JAPAN Shinjuku 3F. There is also a limited-time pop-up on BEAMS JAPAN Shinjuku 1F from May 22 through June 21, with a live showcase set for May 21 at 20:00 JST and an opening reception at BEAMS JAPAN Shinjuku at 19:00 on May 22. Sizes run XS to XL at BEAMS and S to XL on Starbucks’ online store, a small but useful detail that keeps the collaboration looking more like clothing than branded ephemera.

Compared with the first drop, this one has more confidence and more retail muscle. The Kenya theme still risks sliding into seasonal packaging if you strip away the graphics, but the stronger silhouettes, broader distribution and more ambitious 25-piece range give SS26 real streetwear value.
