UNIQLO UT’s second Pokémon drop turns Game Boy art monochrome
UNIQLO UT strips Pokémon back to monochrome Game Boy pixels for its second 30th-anniversary drop, with adult tees at $29.90 and kids’ at $19.90.

The smartest Pokémon T-shirt is the one that looks like it came straight off a cartridge. UNIQLO UT’s second 30th-anniversary drop does exactly that, trading the first collection’s watercolor softness for monochrome Game Boy-era pixel art across a cleaner, sharper tee lineup that feels easier to wear with denim, cargos, or a plain black trouser.
UNIQLO US says the collection will be available online and in stores on June 15, mid-morning ET. Adult graphic tees are priced at $29.90 and come in XXS through 3XL, while kids’ tees land at $19.90 in sizes 3-4Y (110) through 13Y (160). That price point is the heart of UNIQLO’s formula: accessible enough to buy without overthinking, but polished enough to read as a deliberate style choice rather than souvenir merch.

The shift from watercolor to pixel grid is more than a visual reset. The first Pokémon x UNIQLO UT 30th Anniversary collection, which launched in March 2026, leaned into original artwork from the franchise’s debut era and featured fan favorites like Charizard, Mewtwo, Gengar, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. This second release narrows the focus to the original video game art, and that makes the graphics more legible at a glance. In streetwear terms, it is the difference between nostalgia that feels decorative and nostalgia that feels built into the shape of the shirt.
That matters because Pokémon’s 30th anniversary year is already carrying a heavy merchandising load, tied to the original Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green on February 27, 1996. UNIQLO’s move follows the same commercial logic that has made UT one of the brand’s most reliable pop-culture platforms: take globally recognizable IP, strip it down, and present it in a format that can move beyond the hardest-core fans. The monochrome treatment makes the collection easier to style and, more importantly, easier to share.

UNIQLO has played this game before. Pokémon has already appeared in prior UT capsules, including a Daniel Arsham x Pokémon UT collection in April 2020. But this latest drop feels more direct and less precious. In monochrome, the nostalgia lands faster, the shirts read cleaner, and the collaboration looks ready for everyday rotation rather than display.
