WACKO MARIA and Timberland Reimagine the 3-Eye Classic Lug for Spring 2026
Tokyo's WACKO MARIA reworked Timberland's 3-Eye Classic Lug in cowhide pony-hair, dropping March 28 in leopard print and tonal all-black.

WACKO MARIA and Timberland released their reworked 3-Eye Classic Lug on March 28, arriving in two cowhide pony-hair colorways: a brown leopard print built on WACKO MARIA's original print, and a tonal all-black. Availability varied by store and region.
The Tokyo imprint left the 3-Eye Classic Lug's architecture completely alone. Same silhouette, same classic construction, same heritage shape that's carried the shoe across decades. What changed was entirely the surface: traditional leathers swapped out for a premium cowhide pony-hair upper, the kind of material that responds to light and develops character in ways smooth leather simply doesn't.
The leopard print version is the louder of the two. WACKO MARIA's original print runs across the pony-hair upper in brown tones, a pattern that carries the brand's signature tension between subcultural boldness and precise craft. The all-black option plays it straight: tonal, versatile, and just as tactile, with the pony-hair texture doing the visual work without needing pattern to justify itself.
Both colorways share one branding detail: a custom engraved logo plate integrated onto the side of the shoe. Hypebeast described it as "seamlessly integrated," which captures the restraint of the approach. The co-branding is present but doesn't compete with the pony-hair drama happening across the upper. That kind of compositional discipline is harder to execute than it looks.

Hypebeast framed the project as an effort to "inject a heavy dose of Tokyo street culture into an undisputed footwear classic," noting the material choices stay "true to WACKO MARIA's rebellious, unapologetic DNA." The Tokyo imprint has consistently positioned itself at the intersection of subcultural edge and heritage craft, and the 3-Eye Classic Lug, a silhouette that has spent decades moving between workwear utility and street culture iconography, is equipped to absorb that kind of intervention without losing itself. Hypebeast noted that "the meticulous execution speaks volumes to WACKO MARIA's overarching vision of blending modern streetwear sensibilities with timeless, heritage-driven design."
WACKO MARIA posted imagery of the pack to its Instagram at @wackomaria_guiltyparties ahead of the drop, with full editorial coverage and imagery available via Hypebeast. The 3-Eye Classic Lug didn't need saving. Under WACKO MARIA's direction, it became considerably more interesting.
