WACKO MARIA drops Ghost in the Shell and Champion streetwear collab
WACKO MARIA fused Ghost in the Shell art with Champion basics, pairing a ¥39,600 rayon aloha shirt with a ¥12,100 heavy-weight tee.

WACKO MARIA knows exactly how to make a collaboration feel like a wardrobe piece instead of a novelty, and this Ghost in the Shell and Champion drop worked because each brand carried a different kind of value. The anime brings cult heat, WACKO MARIA brings the louche, Japan-meets-streetwear silhouette, and Champion supplies the kind of heavy-weight T-shirt that actually gets worn hard.
The collection landed on May 9, 2026, with the Ghost in the Shell Hawaiian shirt and related pieces sold through PARADISE TOKYO and the WACKO MARIA online store. The Champion heavy-weight T-shirt was also sold through WACKO MARIA direct stores. On paper, the price spread tells the story immediately: the rayon Hawaiian shirt came in at ¥39,600, while the cotton Champion tee was listed at ¥12,100. One is the statement piece, the other is the easy entry point.

The shirt is the clearest expression of why this formula works. Made from 100 percent rayon, it gives WACKO MARIA its familiar drape and sheen, the kind of fabric that moves with the body and hangs with a little more attitude than standard cotton camp shirts. Ghost in the Shell’s official site described the collaboration as using bold graphics cut from scenes and original drawings from the franchise, which is exactly the right material for a brand that has long treated pop culture as part of its own visual language.
If there is a single layer most likely to pull readers in, it is the IP. Ghost in the Shell is a name with real fan loyalty, and the franchise has the kind of cyberpunk identity that translates cleanly onto clothing without feeling childish. But the layer that will probably sell through beyond collectors is WACKO MARIA’s own template: the open-collar shirt, the relaxed fit, the loud but wearable print scale. Champion matters too, not as headline bait but as proof that the collab is not only about graphics. A 100 percent cotton heavy-weight tee is the sort of dependable blank that turns a logo into an everyday rotation piece.

This was not WACKO MARIA’s first pass at the franchise. The brand released a Ghost in the Shell collaboration in June 2023, and the official Ghost in the Shell site said that aloha shirt sold out immediately before returning in a special exhibition colorway. WACKO MARIA followed with a Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence release in 2024, reinforcing that this is less a one-off licensing stunt than a recurring partnership with real traction. For a label that has made anime, music, and subcultural imagery part of its rhythm, Ghost in the Shell remains one of the sharpest fits in its archive.
