The most gift-worthy names in eBay’s spring-summer 2026 Watchlist are the ones that already carry instant recognition: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry and Chanel led luxury demand in the first quarter, while Prada held steady and Dior joined the ranks. For milestone birthdays, anniversaries and fashion-forward occasions, that mix matters because it points to pieces that read as considered, not improvised.

eBay unveiled the Watchlist on May 14, built from global purchases between January and March 2026 and shaped by platform data from about 136 million active buyers and roughly 2.5 billion listings. Curated with stylist Brie Welch and input from Harry Lambert, the report is less a passing trend map than a snapshot of where cultural taste is landing in resale. The continuity is striking: the top sold luxury brands in the fourth quarter of 2025 were Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, Chanel, Prada and Hermès, and the first quarter of 2026 kept that core intact while adding Dior.

For gifting, that stability is the story. The safest secondhand luxury gifts are usually the pieces with the clearest identity and the strongest resale memory, and eBay’s own value data backs that up. The Gucci Padlock Bag was up 530% in resale value, while the Patek Philippe Nautilus rose 154%. Those are the kinds of numbers that signal more than hype; they suggest lasting desirability, strong brand codes and a buyer pool that understands why the object matters.

The practical advantage is confidence. eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee for handbags covers eligible handbags and accessories priced at $500 and above from brands including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Dior, with expert inspection before shipment. That makes pre-owned gifting feel far less risky, especially when the item is meant to mark a major moment and arrive as polished as something bought new. It also widens the field: a well-kept bag, a recognized watch or a classic house accessory can deliver more emotional weight than a newer, more expensive gift with less history.

The broader market backdrop explains why this part of resale is getting so much attention. eBay said fashion GMV accelerated in the first quarter of 2026, with fashion focus categories posting double-digit growth. The company reported first-quarter 2026 GMV of $22.2 billion and revenue of $3.1 billion, a reminder that prestige resale is not a niche afterthought. It is where gift shoppers are finding brands with staying power, better pricing and the kind of provenance that makes a present feel deliberate.
