The numbers behind the guide reflect that priority. More than 70% of the featured toys carry price tags under $50, and over 175 of them come in under $25. The guide's three signature lists, which The Toy Insider has branded "legendary," anchor the selection: the Hot 20 spotlights the most sought-after toys of the year, the STEM 10 highlights top educational picks that advance science, technology, engineering, and math learning, and the 12 Under $20 rounds up budget-conscious options that don't sacrifice play value. Across all three lists, the average price comes in under $60.

Each toy in the guide was tested by The Toy Insider's experts before earning inclusion, a vetting standard the organization has applied across its full publishing history. Products under consideration for The Toy Insider's 2026 Spring & Summer Gift Guide must be new for 2026 and available on shelves by May 15.
