Balmain Beauty Debuts First Prestige Fragrance With Free SoHo Pop-Up
Balmain Beauty's first prestige fragrance, Destin de Balmain, drew SoHo crowds on March 21 with free samples, strawberry-inspired desserts, and a "wall of destiny" giveaway for full-size bottles.

Balmain Beauty introduced its inaugural all-gender luxury fragrance collection, Les Éternels, in 2024, and its first prestige fragrance, Destin de Balmain, in 2026. To mark the latter launch, the brand brought the eau de parfum to street level in the most direct way possible: a free, one-day immersive pop-up that landed at 216 Lafayette Street in SoHo on March 21.
The bold floral fruity fragrance captures the unstoppable energy of the Balmain individual: independent, youthful, and unapologetic, and the luxury beauty brand hosted an immersive experience on March 21, and everyone was invited. Running from 10 AM to 6 PM, the first dozens of guests in line were treated to a surprise deluxe Balmain Beauty gift, while the event featured other samples and surprises, including strawberry-inspired desserts and a photo booth to capture the moment. Every attendee received a complimentary refillable fragrance sample paired with an ingredient-inspired dessert, a gifting mechanic that mirrored the scent's own composition.
The fragrance itself is worth understanding before giving it. Perfumer Quentin Bisch described it plainly: "Destin de Balmain features a joyful, optimistic spark of ripe strawberry. The fruit's juicy vivacity brings bright, elevated sweetness to the composition." Notes of peony convey the feeling of rosy fullness, and notes of creamy sandalwood anchor the fragrance in strength and luminosity. Developed under license with The Estée Lauder Companies, the fragrance incorporates biotechnology-derived ingredients, including Akigalawood, produced through white biotechnology from upcycled patchouli oil, and Ambrexolide, a macrocyclic musk often used as a more environmentally favorable alternative to older synthetic musks.
The bottle is as considered as the juice inside it. The fragrance is contained in a precious, refillable glass cube, capped with signature golden striations. The PB monogram runs across every face, carving the house's iconic Labyrinth motif into three-dimensional pathways — clear and gold, full of spark. It is a well-made EDP with a skilled perfumer behind it and a bottle you will actually want to display. The 50 ml retails for $130 and the 100 ml for $150, positioning it firmly in the accessible prestige tier, well below the niche houses that Givaudan perfumer Bisch is typically associated with.

The SoHo activation went beyond sampling. Guests got a glimpse into Destin de Balmain's backstory, from a deep dive into the fragrance's notes to the history of the brand, thanks to Balmain Beauty brand ambassadors. To top off their date with destiny, attendees had the chance to write down their hopes and dreams on the "wall of destiny," where lucky winners won a full-size bottle of Destin de Balmain. That detail, a scent-soaked space in which strangers inscribed their ambitions for a chance at the prize, was the kind of moment that earns a brand genuine loyalty rather than a single transaction.
Jessica Wolfe, global interim general manager at Balmain Beauty, described Destin as "an extension," noting that Les Éternels is for perfume connoisseurs with tight distribution, while "now we are extending to a new chapter and broadening to a new audience, a complementary audience," adding that Balmain Beauty looks to scale. Destin will be carried in about 5,000 doors by the end of June. The SoHo pop-up, then, was not just a launch party; it was a declaration of intent about who this fragrance is for and how widely Balmain plans to reach them.
Destin de Balmain is available worldwide in Balmain boutiques, online, and at select fashion and beauty destinations, coming in a 10 ml travel spray and 30 ml, 50 ml, 100 ml, and 150 ml bottles. For anyone who missed the pop-up, the $33 travel spray is the easiest entry point into a fragrance that genuinely overdelivers for its price.
