Isotope unveils Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap, 30-piece telemeter collaboration with Teenage Grandpa
Isotope and Toronto designer Matt Smith-Johnson, aka Teenage Grandpa, have produced the Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap, a sandblasted Grade 5 titanium telemeter limited to 30 pieces, priced from £2,400.

Isotope’s Moonshot Chronograph Thunderclap arrives as a strictly limited 30-piece edition that introduces a telemeter scale to the Moonshot line for the first time. The collaboration with Toronto designer Matt Smith-Johnson, known online as Teenage Grandpa, was unveiled in London at British Watchmakers’ Day on March 7, 2026, and is offered from £2,400 on a purple FKM rubber strap or £2,720 with a matching sandblasted titanium bracelet included.
José Miranda, co-founder of Isotope, framed the partnership plainly: “The first time I met Matt, I was immediately struck by his energy, sharp mind, and design originality. He had a genuine connection with the Moonshot, which led me to invite him to create his own interpretation of it. The result is bold and unexpected, a version that could only come from the mind of Teenage Grandpa.” Timekeepers Club described the watch’s intent with equal clarity: “A sudden flash. A rolling echo. A bolt of color against a brooding sky. Thunderclap captures that energy in mechanical form.”
The case is sandblasted Grade 5 titanium and deliberately left uncoated, presenting a natural matte character; dimensions are 41 mm diameter by 15 mm thickness and Timekeepers lists water resistance at 100m. The dial adopts a storm-grey, embossed “dimple” texture with a slightly darker telemeter scale printed in grey and accented with purple markings. Sub-dials are metallic purple “Moondisc” elements that shift with light, and the chronograph pushers are finished in purple to underline the thunder-and-lightning motif.
Isotope offers two movement options for Thunderclap: the ETA Valjoux 7753 or the Swiss Landeron 73, each running at 4 Hz with a 44-hour power reserve, and Oracle Time notes that pricing is identical regardless of which movement is specified. The titanium bracelet included in the higher-priced configuration uses tapered, screwed links with quick-release construction and is finished to match the case; The Calibrated Wrist says the bracelet gives the Moonshot “a more integrated, cohesive feel compared to earlier strap-first releases” and compares its heft and design to the Speedmaster 125 bracelet, with the reviewer preferring Thunderclap’s execution.
Availability will be consequential: Timekeepers called availability “expected to be extremely limited,” and social posts on Reddit and Instagram corroborate the 30-piece edition size. Timekeepers also notes the bracelet will be offered separately for customers who wish to add it later, with dedicated imagery to support that option.
Technically ambitious and visually theatrical, Thunderclap pairs Grade 5 titanium construction, a new telemeter complication for the Moonshot, and the option of a Valjoux 7753 at a microbrand price point. With only 30 pieces produced and a public reveal at British Watchmakers’ Day on March 7, 2026, this Moonshot represents a deliberate, collectible pivot for Isotope and for Teenage Grandpa’s design résumé.
