The 25 or so top acting and directing Oscar nominees who gathered for the 98th Academy Awards on March 15 did not leave empty-handed, regardless of what happened on stage. Each walked away with a small suitcase stuffed with roughly $350,000 worth of luxury products, travel experiences, and professional services, assembled by Los Angeles-based marketer Lash Fary of Distinctive Assets for the 24th consecutive year.

The "Everyone Wins" bags, as Fary has always called them, have no connection to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which distributes the suitcases but does not curate or fund them. Companies pay a fee to Distinctive Assets to be included, and Fary uses that model deliberately. "This is something we do independently of the Academy with the intention of elevating small businesses, female-founded brands, and minority-owned companies," he said, "and also because losing sucks."

This year's haul spans a genuinely staggering range. At the practical end: inexpensive snacks, a hydrating sipper, footwear, Glow Recipe's Watermelon Glow Toner and new Korean toner pads, a three-piece Swiss skincare set from INSTYTUTUM, and Supergoop!'s Invisible Sunscreen Primer SPF. At the other end sits a home interior design package that could mean anything from a modest room refresh to a full home rebuild costing upwards of $100,000.

The five included vacations are where the suitcase earns its valuation. Destinations run from Hideout Villas' snow-covered Arctic property in Finland to the Essence of Dreams, a $9 million private villa perched on a mountain in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, with 360-degree views of four volcanoes, a private chef, concierge, and driver. Ibiza's Can Nemo villa, which hosts up to 16 guests with a full-service team, solar energy, and organic produce, rounds out the European option. Nominees seeking a longer reset can choose between Golden Door's seven-day wellness retreat in Southern California or a ten-day wellness reset at Santani, a Michelin-recognized resort in Sri Lanka.

Spa and skincare services round out the wellness portion. Rescue Spa, the Philadelphia-based brand founded by Danuta Mieloch, is contributing $450 worth of treatments and goods per bag, its third appearance in the gift bags. DESUAR Spa is adding a $400 credit toward facials or massages. Danucera's Sculpt and Lift facial, a waitlisted treatment refined over 20 years and featuring the brand's Cerabalm and D22 Tonic, is also included. Unilad reports the bag extends even further into the medical, noting a voucher for a liposuction treatment among the contents.

For Mieloch, whose spa brand contributes far more in visibility than the $450 price tag suggests, inclusion carries weight beyond marketing metrics. "Coming from Poland 30-something years ago and now being at the Oscars — it means a lot," she said. "To be nominated requires diligence, a lot of work and excellence — and I feel like my products are aligned with that."

Fary tracks his return on investment the same way most people experience celebrity culture: through Instagram. "Whenever they take a trip and post pictures, or they go in and get the waitlisted Sculpt and Lift facial at Rescue Spa — which one of the nominees already does — that's the best feedback of all," he said. Last year's bag was valued at $215,000 and included a $25,000 Ancestry VIP Family History Experience and a four-night Maldives stay worth $23,500. The jump to $350,000 in a single year suggests the brands paying for inclusion have found the return worth the fee.
