Americans will spend $34.1 billion on Mother's Day this year, according to the National Retail Federation, with flower arrangements and restaurant brunches taking the largest share. Levain Bakery, the New York City institution known for its iconic six-ounce cookies since 1995, is offering a shippable alternative: a limited-edition Mother's Day Cookie Tin that delivers nationwide.

The tin, dressed in a vibrant floral design and sized for an eight-pack, is priced at $69 filled. In-store availability begins the week of April 15, while online orders open April 20 at levainbakery.com. Cookie selection is customizable, making it as practical to ship across the country as to place at a brunch table, carry to a picnic, or deliver to a workplace.

Against the two most common Mother's Day defaults, the math holds up. Flowers are the perennial top gift category, and a decent arrangement runs $40 to $100 at most florists while lasting about a week. A Sunday brunch reservation at a worthwhile restaurant gets harder to secure as May 10 approaches and costs at least as much per person with nothing to bring home. Levain frames its own case directly: "while flowers are lovely, fresh cookies are unforgettable."

The tin disappears after May 11, one day after Mother's Day, and that three-week ordering window is the only guarantee on availability.

Leading the spring order is the new Carrot Cake Cookie, Levain's first "vegetable-forward" creation in its 30-year history. Co-founders Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald described the development process: "We had been experimenting with a breakfast-forward cookie for a while, and ended up with carrot cake — and this is when everything finally clicked. It's a classic for a reason: the kind of flavor people genuinely love. When it came together, it felt like the perfect way to welcome spring. It's also our first vegetable-forward cookie, and one we really enjoy."

The Carrot Cake Cookie and the returning Lemon Cookie, described by the bakery as "a fan favorite bursting with refreshing citrus flavor and sweet lemon chips," are both available in stores and online through June 2026. The Mother's Day tin disappears after May 11.

At $69 for an eight-pack, the tin lands exactly where a last-minute flower delivery and a greeting card would otherwise meet their match.
