Build-A-Bear lets shoppers personalize Mother’s Day gifts for same-day delivery

Build-A-Bear has made deadline shopping feel more intimate: shoppers can add a Record Your Voice message up to 30 seconds long, and the company says the chip can last up to two years depending on use. A 10-second recording is expected to play roughly 1,350 times, and the add-on costs $9.50. For a Mother’s Day gift that can be ordered quickly, that is the kind of detail that turns a plush animal into a keepsake instead of a placeholder. Build-A-Bear currently offers FedEx Express Shipping and same-day delivery by Uber.

The Mother’s Day Giftshop is built around that kind of customization. Shoppers can buy online or visit local workshops, then add outfits, accessories, special scents and Teddy Bear Bouquet options. The current assortment includes a $7.50 Best Mom Ever T-shirt, a $30 Pawlette Bunny Plush and a $50 Teddy Bear Bouquet, which gives buyers a clear range from small add-ons to fuller gift sets without losing the personal message at the center of the gift. Build-A-Bear has said the seasonal range is meant not only for mothers, but also for expecting moms, first-time moms, grandmothers, aunts, pet moms and plant moms.

For shoppers still trying to make the calendar work, the shipping math is simple. FedEx says Mother’s Day 2026 falls on Sunday, May 10, and a gift shipped Friday, May 8 with overnight shipping can still arrive on Saturday, May 9. FedEx also lists earlier cutoffs for Home Delivery, Express Saver and 2Day, while Build-A-Bear’s own shipping page points buyers to Buy Online, Pick Up in Store as another fast option when same-day delivery is not available in a particular ZIP code.

The brand has spent decades turning a stuffed animal into an emotional transaction. Maxine Clark founded Build-A-Bear in 1997 inside Saint Louis Galleria Mall, and the company says it has grown to more than 400 locations worldwide by leaning into a high-touch, make-it-yourself model. That same logic showed up in December 2020, when Build-A-Bear and Shipt launched same-day delivery and said furry friends could arrive in as little as an hour. For Mother’s Day, the appeal is plain: the gift may be bought at the last minute, but the voice inside it still sounds unmistakably personal.
