Chicago's One of a Kind Spring Show Marks 10 Years With 350 Artisans
Chicago's One of a Kind Spring Show turns 10 this April with 350+ jury-selected artisans offering handmade, personalizable gifts you can commission on the spot.

Ten years in, the One of a Kind Spring Show has earned its reputation. When it opens April 24 at THE MART's 7th floor in downtown Chicago, it will bring together more than 350 jury-selected artists, designers, and makers from across North America, the largest and most diverse field in the show's decade-long history.
The timing is pointed. Positioned squarely between Mother's Day and graduation season, the three-day event runs April 24 through April 26, with public hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Of the 350-plus participants, more than 150 are making their One of a Kind debut, and 35 are featured in a dedicated Emerging Market section spotlighting new talent working outside established gallery circuits.
The show spans 20 product categories: fine art, ceramics, jewelry, fashion, home décor, photography, and gourmet goods among them. What separates it from a boutique's curated shelf is access. Shoppers can commission custom work directly from the makers, have jewelry engraved onsite, or specify details on hand-stitched textiles before placing an order. There is no algorithm for that kind of transaction.
That distinction carries real market weight. The U.S. personalized gifting market was valued at $9.69 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $14.56 billion by 2030, growing at a 7% annual rate. Globally, the category sits at roughly $34 billion in 2026 and could reach between $61 billion and $69 billion by 2033. Rising consumer demand for meaningful, individualized objects is the primary driver, and in-person maker markets are among the few retail formats built specifically to meet it.

General admission starts at $15 for anyone 12 and older, with tickets valid for re-entry across all three days. Children under 12 attend free. For $30, a premium ticket adds access to an exclusive post-show reception on Friday evening at THE MART's SKS Showroom. The Friends Day Out Bundle pairs two admission tickets with two branded tote bags and two $20 food vouchers. Tickets have been available online at oneofakindshowchicago.com since March 2.
The show is held at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, with the CTA's Brown and Purple lines stopping directly at the Merchandise Mart elevated train station. More than 5,000 parking spaces are available within a four-block radius, including Mart Parc Wells and Mart Parc Orleans. The building's river-facing facade features Art on the Mart, THE MART's permanent large-scale digital art installation, which anchors the experience in something well beyond a typical trade floor.
Founded in 2016, the Spring Show is the smaller of THE MART's two annual editions: the Holiday Show each December draws roughly 600 exhibitors and an expected 11,000 visitors. The spring roster of 350-plus is tighter by design, jury-selected for quality and weighted heavily toward makers appearing for the first time. For a 10th anniversary, that ratio of new talent to established names is the strongest argument for showing up in person.
