A Tinggly survey released from New York on June 25, 2024 found clear momentum for experience-led wedding registries: 82% of respondents said experiential gifts are the most memorable, 35% still opt for cash, and 27% prefer physical gifts, while more than 56% of participants reported they have given an experiential gift to newlyweds and 30% called it the best type of gift.

Laurynas Kundrotas, CEO of Tinggly, framed the shift in plain terms: "It's a trend we've seen growing for years now," he said, adding that registries now include "adrenaline-pumping adventures" and "wellness spa getaways" as once-in-a-lifetime items. Kundrotas also noted that "Even gifts of cash are being used to fund newlywed adventures with a few surveys reporting more than 80% newlyweds apply gifts of cash to fund their honeymoon experiences."

The experiential surge sits alongside a renewed appetite for personalization and heirloom-quality items. A trend article on registry practices called out examples such as monogrammed linens and engraved keepsakes as items couples explicitly request, signaling that personalization now travels beyond fine china into textiles and small keepsakes that endure.

Practical registry strategy has shifted as well. Events By Sorrell, in a December 15, 2023 guide titled "The Ultimate Guide to Wedding Registries," advises that "Typically, couples opt for one to three wedding registries to cover their varied needs" and that "A convenient all-in-one platform stands out as an excellent starting point, enabling couples to register for both tangible items and cash gifts seamlessly." The piece urges couples to "offer a well-balanced registry, featuring home essentials, shared experiences, and personalized items," language that maps neatly onto the Tinggly data.

Platform features are shaping how those choices are realized. Elegante Weddings & Events markets a "personalized and highly customized experience, with a dedicated registry concierge to help couples create their perfect registry," and its site notes the service "carries both housewares and fashion" and "offers store credit if you change your mind about a gift." Elegante's comparison also cites Zola as a super-site alternative, noting Zola "offers a wide selection of high-quality home goods" and "The registry offers a completion discount of 20 Percent off any items left on your registry," while also acknowledging that Zola's personalization tools "can be overwhelming for some users."

Not all registry services are identical: Elegante lists cons such as "No completion discounts" and "Only 15 days to make returns, with approval," while retailers lean into customization, Pottery Barn is singled out for "Custom Monogramming, need we say more?"

The industry response is already operational. Tinggly has announced partnership activity, including a partnership headline with The Knot and a launch of corporate gift boxes, indicating that experiential options are being integrated into mainstream registry channels. Taken together, the numbers, platform features, and vendor offerings suggest couples are moving toward registries that mix monogrammed heirlooms, spa getaways, and cash funds, reshaping wedding-gift expectations from the registry list to the honeymoon itinerary.
