Aveda Becomes First Prestige Beauty Brand to Adopt Curbside-Recyclable Refill Packaging
Aveda became the first prestige beauty brand to commercialize AeroFlexx's curbside-recyclable refill packaging globally, a milestone announced from Minneapolis on Feb. 26.

Aveda has become the first prestige beauty brand to globally commercialize curbside-recyclable refill packaging technology, the result of a partnership with AeroFlexx announced from Minneapolis on February 26, 2026.
The collaboration centers on AeroFlexx's refill format, which the two companies describe as aligning with Aveda's design-for-recyclability principles. The technology is intended to reduce packaging impact without compromising product performance or the consumer experience, building on Aveda's existing history of using post-consumer recycled materials and investing in circular packaging solutions.
"This partnership demonstrates what's possible when two organizations with aligned values come together to push the industry forward," said Peter Messacar, VP Commercial and Business Development at AeroFlexx. "By integrating AeroFlexx's packaging technology into its portfolio, Aveda is setting a new precedent for how major prestige beauty brands can reduce plastic and enhance the consumer experience simultaneously."
AeroFlexx is a subsidiary of Innventure and operates as a liquid packaging company with end-to-end solutions across personal care, household products, baby care, pet care, food, and industrial applications. The global prestige rollout with Aveda represents a significant commercial step for both AeroFlexx and Innventure, with analysts tracking potential implications for the parent company's INV stock and the broader adoption of curbside-recyclable formats across adjacent categories.

One trade report referenced a technical detail describing the refill system's use of an "integrated airframe and resealable" mechanism, though that description was incomplete in available materials and full product specifications had not been publicly released as of early March. The announcement also carried a notation indicating curbside recyclability qualifications, the specifics of which were not detailed in the public-facing release.
What is clear is the scale of ambition. Aveda has long positioned itself as the purpose-driven, plant-powered standard-bearer in professional beauty, and this move extends that reputation into packaging infrastructure rather than just ingredient sourcing. For AeroFlexx, landing a globally recognized prestige brand as its first major beauty partner significantly raises the technology's profile and could accelerate interest from other brands weighing similar transitions. The question now is which prestige names follow.
