Black Ops 7 March Update Freezes Season 2 Ranks, Launches Ranked Series
Treyarch freezes Season 2 ranks on March 25 and launches a 6-day Ranked Series ladder where 50 players per rank compete for exclusive Season 2-only camos and emblems.

Treyarch's latest Black Ops 7 update is doing something competitive players haven't seen before: shutting down the traditional Season 2 ranked grind two days early, locking everyone's SR on March 25, and replacing it with a short-format Ranked Series ladder that runs through March 31 before Ranked Play goes dark entirely until Season 3.
The Ranked Series is structured around Competitive Ladders covering Gold through Iridescent, with each ladder capped at exactly 50 players. Enrollment is automatic, meaning you don't need to opt in. The catch is that each ladder pulls only from players who finished Season 2 at that specific rank, so your Gold ladder is 50 Gold players, your Iridescent ladder is 50 Iridescent players. Every win earns 31 ladder points, and your position at the end determines your reward tier.
The reward structure is tiered per rank and worth paying attention to if you're sitting in the right spot. Finishing first in your ladder earns a 1st Place Emblem. Top 5 gets a Top 5 Emblem plus an Animated Weapon Camo. Top 10 takes home a Top 10 Emblem. Top 25 earns a Top 25 Emblem and a Weapon Camo. Making Top 50 at minimum nets you a Ranked Series Emblem. There's also a Challenge Track available to all ranks that drops a Ranked Series Vinyl and a Ranked Series Charm. Treyarch has been explicit that all of these rewards are exclusive to Season 2, so there's no catching them later.
On the scheduling side, Activision's official release dates the Ranked Series from March 26 to March 31, though some reporting pegged the start at March 25 alongside the SR freeze. Either way, the window is narrow. Once the Series wraps on March 31, Ranked Play is being taken offline across both modes until Season 3 arrives.

The March update also includes bug fixes and tuning changes across multiplayer and Zombies, along with UI adjustments, though Treyarch hasn't itemized those specifics publicly beyond the high-level summary. Season 2 Reload dropped March 12 with new content across multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies, and Treyarch framed this latest update as the final layer of changes it wanted to make before the season closes out.
Top 250 rewards will be processed at the March 25 freeze, so if you're on the bubble of that threshold, the next two days matter more than the Ranked Series itself.
