Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Free PC Trial Details Revealed for This Weekend
Black Ops 7 opened its doors for a free PC trial covering both Multiplayer and Zombies modes, paired with a Double XP weekend.

Activision gave the Call of Duty community a rare no-strings opportunity last weekend: a free trial of Black Ops 7 on PC covering both Multiplayer and Zombies modes, running alongside a Double XP weekend.
The Call of Duty team announced the trial in an official message framed around community trust and the game's identity. "With respect to Black Ops 7, we set our sights to deliver a spiritual successor to Black Ops 2 and the studios have poured their passion into making a great game that all of us are very proud of," the message read. "But it's one thing for us to say it, more importantly it's up to you to try it and judge for yourselves." The trial was positioned not as a marketing push but as a direct challenge to players to form their own verdict.
The free access window covered both core modes: standard Multiplayer and Zombies, the two pillars that Black Ops titles have long been measured by. The Double XP weekend running concurrently meant that anyone who dropped in during the trial period was earning progress at an accelerated rate, adding meaningful incentive beyond simple curiosity. The Call of Duty team was explicit that the trial was open to everyone: "Next week, we are opening the doors for everyone to jump in and play Black Ops 7 Multiplayer and Zombies for a free trial along with a Double XP weekend."
Shacknews flagged the trial as part of its Weekend PC Download Deals column for the March 6 weekend, where it appeared alongside several other sales and promotions targeted at PC players. The column's inclusion placed the Black Ops 7 trial in a broader deals context, though the free trial itself was the headline item rather than a discount on the full game.

The official announcement also carried a broader commitment from Activision, with the Call of Duty team acknowledging that the franchise has fallen short for some players. "We also know that for some of you, the Franchise has not met your expectations fully. To be very clear, we know what you expect and rest assured we will deliver, and overdeliver, on those expectations as we move forward." The message pointed to "Unprecedented Seasonal Support" as a specific pillar of that commitment going forward.
The Black Ops 7 page lists an extensive roster of contributing studios: Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games, High Moon Studios, Digital Legends Entertainment, Infinity Ward, Raven, Solid State Studios, Demonware, Beenox, and both a Shanghai Studio and the Activision parent label, underscoring the scale of development behind the title. The game carries a Mature 17+ ESRB rating with descriptors covering Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, Use of Drugs, and In-game Purchases.
With the trial window now closed, players who sampled the game during the March 6 weekend had a Double XP-boosted first look at what Activision is pitching as the true spiritual heir to one of the franchise's most beloved entries.
