RICOCHET TPM 2.0 enforcement blocks Ranked play, tied to optional AMD firmware

Activision’s anti‑cheat Team RICOCHET began enforcing TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and cloud‑based attestation for Ranked Play, and a spike in community reports tied the enforcement to an older AMD advisory referenced as PA‑420. Players reported they could not find matches or were kicked just after a match started, while others saw only a warning and could continue playing; Reddit users wrote that “the problem comes from a vulnerability acknowledged by AMD around two years ago, affecting Ryzen CPUs up to the 5000 series.”

The technical thread in community posts centers on TPM firmware versions. Related Answers and forum posts point to a problematic threshold of TPM version 3.92.0.5 or lower and note a patched example reported by a user at 3.94.2.5. The community preserved the troubleshooting step verbatim: “Press Windows + R. Type tpm.msc and hit Enter.” One post summarized the concern: “The fix was left as OPTIONAL for motherboard manufacturers, which I personally find absurd. Because of that, the TPM firmware remains on a version that doesn’t prevent the device from working, but it can fail attestation, which is what Ricochet (the anti-cheat) seems to be checking.”

Players described varying in‑game behavior after failing attestation. A Reddit poster recounted: “I’ve seen people reporting that the game still runs fine despite the warning (that was my case too), but there are also reports of: - Players being unable to find matches - Players being kicked out right after the match starts.” Related Answers attempted to reassure users about exploitability: “If your TPM version is 3.92.0.5 or lower, don’t panic: It’s a local vulnerability, your PC is not exposed.” The same help text reported that “Activision recommends contacting your motherboard manufacturer for update instructions, which is exactly what I did.”

At least one concrete remediation was reported by a player who contacted a vendor. The user said, “I submitted a ticket to ASRock Brazil support, and yesterday they sent me a BIOS version (5.67) that includes the fix, updating my TPM 2.0 to version 3.94.2.5. Unfortunately, this version is not yet available on their website, so the only way to get it is by contacting support.” Community reports add that “Gigabyte apparently has already released BIOS updates with this fix in previous versions,” while others say “MSI is aware of the issue, but it’s not a priority for them, and they don’t seem to provide a BIOS file with the fix directly.”

A Reddit poster sketched three near‑term scenarios: “Activision relaxes the Ricochet TPM check, like BF6, which only requires TPM 2.0 to exist but doesn’t care about the version.” The poster also suggested that “Motherboard manufacturers release the fix publicly, as support requests increase,” or that “People will need to upgrade hardware if the fix isn’t provided, although this is the least likely scenario, since most players won’t go through this level of research and troubleshooting.”

Key verification remains outstanding. Activision/Team RICOCHET should confirm the exact attestation criteria and the rollout date for Ranked Play enforcement that began February 17, 2026. AMD’s PA‑420 advisory text, publication date and rationale for making the firmware fix optional for OEMs should be published. Vendors need to confirm which BIOS versions include TPM firmware updates, whether ASRock BIOS 5.67 is official and which motherboards it covers, and which Gigabyte builds ship the fix. For now, check TPM with Windows + R then tpm.msc and contact your motherboard manufacturer for update instructions as recommended by community guidance.
