Filigree Coffee opens community-focused multipurpose cafe outside Orlando on Alafaya Trail

Meticulous preparation and intricate flavors are wired together at Filigree Coffee’s first brick-and-mortar cafe, which opened in Horizon West outside Orlando late last month. The roughly 1,000-square-foot shop joins the company’s roasting operation and sits next to a brewery, offering a craft-focused neighborhood spot for espresso, manual brews, retail coffee and merchandise.

Filigree Coffee is located at 16016 New Independence Pkwy, Ste 110, in Horizon West, Florida. In the Hamlin shopping district, the approximately 1,000-square-foot shop pairs pale wood benches and tables with soft white walls and modern pendant lighting, while checkered tile adds energy underfoot. Sunlight pours through the shop’s front windows, brightening light wood shelves stocked with merchandise and retail coffee.

Above shiny, brew-colored tile fronting the bar, a white La Marzocco GB5 and three Mahlkönig grinders anchor the espresso station, while pre-dosed single-origin coffees also pass through a Weber Workshops EG-1 for careful manual pourovers. The cafe’s program emphasizes a light-roast flavor profile and a meticulous approach to manual brewing, signaling a menu driven by origin clarity and precision extraction rather than heavy roasts or mass-production service.

Filigree began roasting its own coffees in January 2025 and followed that work with the buildout of the cafe next door to the brewery. Leadership framed the opening as a step toward a broader business built across sourcing, roasting, cafes, wholesale and e-commerce. “From the beginning, my vision was to build a truly world-class coffee company encompassing every layer of the craft, from sourcing and roasting to cafes, wholesale and e-commerce,” said Lenz. “Looking ahead, Filigree’s next chapter centers on continued growth of its roasting program, alongside expanded investment in education, research and quality development.”

The space also positions itself as a community-minded multipurpose venue. An Instagram post associated with the opening described the spot as “Located right outside of Avalon Park on Alafaya Trail in East Orlando, this multipurpose coffee shop is all about community.” That social post offers a neighborhood framing that complements the cafe’s retail and education goals, though the shop’s street address places it in Horizon West’s Hamlin district.

Practical value for local coffee drinkers is straightforward: a nearby outlet for single-origin pourovers, precision espresso and retail bags from a roaster that started its own program last year. The design and equipment choices suggest Filigree intends to host focused service, and leadership language signals future investments in classes, research and quality development that could include public programming or barista training.

For now, the cafe adds another craft-focused option to the Orlando-area scene and extends Filigree’s roasting-to-cafe pipeline into a public space.
