Franke Coffee Systems picked up a Red Dot Award for the New A Line, and the win landed for the part of the machine that matters most in a rush: what it changes in the cup and on the bar. The company framed the platform around intuitive operation, visual clarity, and consistent performance in professional coffee settings, where speed, fewer errors, and repeatable quality can make or break a service window.

That is the real story behind the trophy. Franke said the New A Line was built to deliver consistently high in-cup quality in hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and high-traffic retail sites such as convenience and forecourt stores. The system pairs advanced brewing technology with FrankeOS software and an image-led user interface, a combination meant to help staff move more quickly and make the machine easier to learn during busy shifts. For operators, that can mean fewer stalls at the espresso station, more stable drinks across the day, and a smoother handoff between experienced baristas and newer staff.

The machine also scored on the details that decide whether a premium-looking unit survives real service. Franke said major components are made from high-grade metal for durability, while selected parts use predominantly recycled plastics. The New A Line also comes in Onyx, Granite, and Mahogany finishes, a reminder that back-of-house reliability and front-of-house design now travel together in coffee service. Its modular, scalable format was built to adapt from compact setups to high-traffic locations, and Franke said it supports hot and cold milk foam along with a usage-based cleaning system that lowers detergent use and cuts maintenance effort.

The Red Dot jury brings weight to that recognition. About 40 international experts evaluate entries individually, and the competition’s criteria include function, ease of use, durability, and sustainability or responsibility. Franke’s win therefore reads as more than another badge for the cabinet door. It is external validation that the New A Line was designed for the realities of daily service, where consistency matters as much as presentation.

The award also follows the New A Line’s iF DESIGN AWARD 2026, reinforcing Franke’s design-led push for reliability at scale. Franke unveiled the platform at HostMilano on October 17, 2025, with the A600 and A800 as the first two models. The company said the range will be available globally by the end of 2026. Behind it sits a larger Swiss operation with roots back to 1911: Franke Group, headquartered in Aarburg, Switzerland, reported 7,607 employees and CHF 2.21 billion in net sales in its 2025 company presentation.
