Necessity Coffee Opens in San Marcos' North City, Emphasizing Community, Rotating Espresso

Necessity Coffee opened its newest café at 250 North City Drive in the North City district of San Marcos with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 7, 2026, running from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event featured a live DJ and special giveaways for early arrivals, with the first 50 guests in line receiving a complimentary item courtesy of North City.

Founded by Jon Runion, Necessity Coffee emphasizes a rotating drink program alongside everyday staples: drip coffee, pour over, vanilla lattes, flat whites, matcha, and chai. The shop also lists seasonal specialty drinks, loose leaf tea, and assorted pastries on its menu, and the North City location will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
