ChemKnits Opens 2026 Spring Mini Skein Preorders, Announces Live Dyeing Event
ChemKnits launched preorders for its 2026 Spring Mini Skein Mini Series, with a nightly YouTube dyeing event starting June 15.

Preorders for ChemKnits' 2026 Spring Mini Skein Mini Series are open, and the indie dyer behind the biochemist-run shop has already marked the calendar for something else worth watching: a nightly YouTube dyeing event beginning June 15.
ChemKnits, a one-person operation whose blog carries the tagline "A Biochemist's Knitting Perspective," launched the preorders on March 19. Each miniskein set in the series contains hand-dyed yarn in individual skeins weighing between 5 and 20 grams, designed to work together for a single project. Colorways can take the form of fades, gradients, or coordinating color sets, and every set ships wrapped with extras.
The dyeing event is built around a specific kind of transparency: each package will be labeled with a date that tells you exactly which night's video featured the dyeing of your yarn. "Each package will be labeled with the date so you know which night you can watch me dye your yarn," ChemKnits wrote in the announcement post. The series kicks off the evening of Monday, June 15, with one video released each night on the ChemKnits Tutorials YouTube Channel. June 16, June 17, and subsequent nights follow in sequence, though the total number of videos is still to be determined.
All dyeing videos will be publicly available on the ChemKnits Tutorials YouTube Channel, and once the premieres conclude, each video moves into an on-demand playlist so nothing is lost if you miss the live window.
Full-skein add-ons are available alongside the miniskein sets, but only to customers who purchase a miniskein set first. Each add-on comes labeled with the date its corresponding video drops and includes a progress keeper. ChemKnits noted an intention to send add-on bonuses from different dyeing nights than the customer's miniskein set where possible.
All SMSMS preorder yarn is now ready to ship. The shop still carries miniskein sets alongside yarn mops, neon rainbow yarn mops, sock blanks, and bonus full skeins. Listings have not yet been updated to allow buyers to select yarn by episode number, but ChemKnits noted that anyone hoping for yarn from a particular night can inquire directly through Etsy to check available yarn bases. Pricing and the total number of nightly videos have not been announced.
