Belgian CrossFit Competitor Jelle Hoste to Undergo Wrist Surgery, Join WFP Season
Belgian functional‑fitness pro Jelle Hoste will undergo wrist surgery next week to correct a stress fracture he’s had since last April, then rehabs toward HYROX in March and WFP Tour Stop 1 in May.

Jelle Hoste, the Belgian functional‑fitness competitor who finished 13th overall in the 2025 World Fitness Project season and retained his Pro Card, is scheduled for wrist surgery next week to address a stress fracture he has been managing since last April. The operation precedes a multi‑month rehab plan that Hoste intends to use to return to competition for the 2026 WFP calendar.
Hoste competed through the 2025 WFP season despite the injury, and the lingering wrist problem affected him on specific movements during the year. That was particularly noticeable when 30kg (66 pounds) during the 1RM Snatch event at the WFP Finals in December. Hoste was one of the inaugural Pro athletes in the WFP start‑up league and his 13th‑place finish secured his Pro status heading into 2026.
Following the surgery, Hoste will look to rehab his wrist over the next several months to get ready for Tour Stop 1 in May. Prior to that return, he is slated to compete in the HYROX Doubles Pro division in Belgium this March, a calendar entry Hoste is using as a short‑term competition goal while he rehabilitates. An Instagram post excerpted by Hoste’s team reads, "Jelle Hoste will undergo wrist surgery next week to correct a lingering injury. After that his focus will be on the 2026 WFP season. He will", the post is truncated but aligns with his stated plan to prioritize WFP competition after surgery.
Hoste has also continued to distance himself from the CrossFit Open and the CrossFit Games pathway. He did not compete in the CrossFit Games season last year following the death of Lazar Đukić at the 2024 CrossFit Games, and when he announced his decision last February he said, “When accountability is blatantly avoided and transparency outright dismissed, trust is broken. This year, I’m standing by my principles and choosing a different path.” He has indicated he will again skip the CrossFit Open this year and remain focused on WFP.
With surgery scheduled the week after a mid‑February report, Hoste’s immediate calendar now lists a March HYROX Doubles appearance in Belgium, a rehab window of several months, and a targeted return for Tour Stop 1 in May as he ramps into the 2026 WFP season.
