Late Mayhem Classic withdrawals reshape first CrossFit Semifinal field
Ibarra, Folo and Neely left Mayhem Classic days before the start, and Noah Wilson, Caroline Stanley and Rebecca Fuselier stepped into a field chasing six Games tickets.

Chris Ibarra, Erica Folo and Lexi Neely pulling out in the final days before Mayhem Classic changed the shape of the first in-person Semifinal of the 2026 CrossFit season. Their withdrawals opened the door for Noah Wilson, Caroline Stanley and Rebecca Fuselier, the athletes now getting the late call-up into an event that hands out three men’s and three women’s tickets to the CrossFit Games.
That matters because Mayhem Classic is not just another stop on the calendar. CrossFit lists the competition for April 17-19 in Cookeville, Tennessee, as the first in-person Semifinal of the year, and Semifinals are the final qualifying stage for the 2026 CrossFit Games. Only athletes who stayed inside the Quarterfinal cutline remained eligible for this stage, so every roster change carries real weight when the field is this close to the finish line.
The latest scratches also show how fluid the event has been from the start. In January, 19 of 30 invited athletes had already declined, including 10 men and 9 women, forcing a second wave of invitees and leaving the final roster built around 20 men and 20 women. Earlier on the women’s side, Manon Angonese withdrew after a psoas injury suffered during Open workout 26.2, and Olivia Geisthardt stepped in for her. Arielle Loewen also came out before these latest changes, making the women’s side the most volatile part of the lineup.

For the athletes still in the hunt, the impact is immediate. Fewer original invitees means fewer major names to beat, especially in a women’s field that has already lost multiple competitors before a single event score is posted. The backfill athletes get the clearest boost, but the entire leaderboard feels the effect when a field settles late: heat draws can shift, event-by-event previews change, and the path to one of those six Games berths looks different than it did a week ago.
That’s why these scratches matter beyond simple roster churn. The 2025 Mayhem Classic awarded two men’s and two women’s Games spots, but this year’s Semifinal carries even more on the line, and the field will begin sorting itself as soon as the first workouts land. Three announced tests were already out before competition week, giving athletes and fans a clearer picture of where the pressure points will be when Mayhem Classic opens the Semifinal season.
