People came for stretches, grounding and the quiet ritual of a wellness session; the German Shepherd puppies supplied the unpredictability that made the whole thing memorable. Muskoka Puppy Yoga leans into that contrast, describing its work as trauma-informed puppy yoga centered on nervous-system regulation, joy and connection through ethical animal-assisted experiences.

That framing matters because the brand is not selling stillness in the usual yoga sense. That setup is practical for anyone expecting a standard studio flow. Big, energetic puppies change the room fast, so the experience depends on space, a flexible pace and instructors who can keep the class calm without pretending the dogs will stay still.

The appeal comes with a serious welfare backdrop. ITV reported in July 2023 that undercover visits to puppy yoga studios found basic welfare requirements were not being met, and animal experts described those environments as incredibly concerning and worrying for puppies. The RSPCA has urged animal lovers to reject puppy yoga because young puppies can be overwhelmed and frightened, while Country Living has reported similar calls from animal welfare charities and organizations. A 2025 report added that welfare experts remain concerned that puppies need long, uninterrupted sleep and carefully staged socialization, both of which can be disrupted by repeated handling and class routines.

That is what makes the German Shepherd clip work so well: it shows the joke, but also the business model.
