Lake Ronkonkoma puppy yoga class welcomes beginners and adoptable pups

At The Cheeky Peach on Ronkonkoma Avenue, a one-hour puppy yoga class turned a late-May afternoon into a beginner-friendly mix of movement and adoptable dogs. The May 23 session was listed as a 3 to 6 p.m. event at 138 Ronkonkoma Avenue in Lake Ronkonkoma, but the class itself ran for one hour and was built around a guided yoga practice with a certified instructor.

The setup was deliberately low-pressure. The studio says its foundation classes are beginner friendly, and this event followed that same script, with playful puppies roaming freely through class and an open invitation for all ages. Minors needed a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. Guests were told to wear comfy clothing, bring a yoga mat if they had one, and come with an open heart, though the studio said only a limited number of mats were available on site.

The practical rules were just as clear as the playful ones. Attendees were asked to leave personal belongings in their cars because puppies could chew or damage them. They were also told not to bring treats, outside food, or anything valuable or sentimental. The studio warned that puppies might have accidents or playfully nip, framing that behavior as normal rather than a problem. The goal was not a polished studio silence, but a loose, puppy-first hour that kept both people and animals comfortable.

Almost Home Animal Rescue was the rescue partner attached to the puppy yoga listings, and the rescue handled the adoptions and animal care. A portion of proceeds supported that work. The Cheeky Peach has said that in 2025 it raised more than $9,000 by donating its space, staff, time, and energy to support a bigger cause, and a later listing set a $10,000 fundraising goal for 2025. Archived listings show the format had already been repeated in Patchogue and Lake Ronkonkoma, while an Eventbrite listing put the studio’s puppy yoga portfolio at 818 total attendees.

That combination of beginner access, rescue funding, and roaming puppies has become part of The Cheeky Peach’s identity, alongside its daily classes, monthly workshops, and community-minded brand. A Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce profile describes the space as one promoting health, safety, and diversity, and on Ronkonkoma Avenue, that mission looked especially tangible in a room full of mats, movement, and adoptable pups.
