Roll20 adds print-friendly Dungeons & Dragons 5.5 character sheets

Roll20 has pushed a small interface change with an outsized payoff for Dungeons & Dragons groups: print-friendly character sheets for the new D&D 2024 format. The print-to-PDF feature went into public beta on June 11, 2026, and it works in both the Roll20 VTT and Roll20 Characters, giving players a cleaner path from digital character builder to paper at the table.

The button sits near the top-right corner of the sheet, a simple placement that matters most when a group is moving between remote play, in-person sessions, and convention tables. That hybrid rhythm is common in D&D now, and Roll20 is leaning into it by making the same character easier to use whether it lives on a laptop, a tablet, or in a binder beside the dice tray. Dean Bigbee, Roll20’s director of operations, said the request had come up repeatedly across the company’s D&D posts over the past year. The message from players was blunt: “LET US PRINT!”

Roll20 said the beta follows a stretch of internal testing, but the company still wants players to hammer on it and send back bug reports or enhancement requests. Bigbee said the team cannot exhaustively test every possible character and data combination, which is exactly the kind of problem that makes printable sheets tricky in the first place. Roll20’s help materials note that web-based sheets can vary widely in length and layout depending on class features, inventory, and other character data, so a clean print output is not a trivial export button hidden in a menu.

The timing also fits the broader rollout of Roll20’s D&D 2024 support. The company announced the new D&D 2024 character sheet and builder in beta on July 29, 2024, then said the D&D Player’s Handbook (2024) went live on Roll20 on September 17, 2024. Earlier, in February 2024, Roll20 said it was rebuilding its D&D sheet and builder with Wizards of the Coast to support both D&D 5e and D&D 2024 across its services.

That wider rules refresh helps explain why printability suddenly feels so practical. Wizards of the Coast’s 2024 Player’s Handbook runs 384 pages and includes 12 classes, 48 subclasses, 10 species, 16 backgrounds, and 75 feats, giving players more moving parts to track and more reason to want a paper backup. Roll20’s new beta does not just shave off a few clicks; it reduces one of the most annoying handoffs in modern play, turning the sheet into something that can travel cleanly from screen to session, ready for the next roll at the table.
