Foiling emerged as the standout storyline at Boot Düsseldorf 2026, with organisers and industry coverage flagging foiling trends as a dominant feature of the surf and action-sport areas. The lift toward foil surfing and related demo activity punctuated a fair that stretched across 16 halls at the Messe Düsseldorf fairgrounds and displayed more than 1,000 boats and yachts from exhibitors representing 68 countries.

The scale of the show turned attention to product premieres and market momentum. Petros Michelidakis, boot Director, said, “We were excellently positioned in the sailing boat and yacht sector this year. Almost all the global players were on board with their boat premieres. In addition, we were able to attract innovative new manufacturers, with many boats being presented for the first time here in Düsseldorf.” Hall 15 and Hall 16 concentrated sailing activity, with Hall 15 hosting a full sailing area, youth and regatta programmes and an interactive e-sailing section. Brands such as Beneteau, Lagoon, Dufour, Hallberg-Rassy and Solaris were noted among the yacht displays.

Motorboats and propulsion remained strong across other halls, with motor yachts, power catamarans, RIBs and high-performance tenders on show alongside engines, navigation systems and accessories. Visitors actively booked holidays and charters at the Destinations & Boatlife Hall, reflecting a market where inspiration translated into on-the-spot bookings. Michelidakis added, “This year’s vacation and charter presentation in the Destinations & Boatlife Hall was very well received by visitors. The diverse holiday regions simply whet the appetite for the most beautiful weeks of the year. Many of our visitors were also inspired by our wide range of houseboats and motorboat and sailing boat charters and made bookings on the spot at the trade fair.”

Sustainability and conservation were woven through the programme. Henning Mittelmann, President of the German Maritime Industry Association, said, “Our association, the VMWD, is the conceptual sponsor of boot. The trade fair offers our members the perfect marketplace to reach customers from all over the world. At the same time, we find it the right place to cultivate our networks in the industry and also to show representatives from politics and administration the breadth of the maritime industry in Germany. [...] For many water sports fans, their sport is also closely linked to marine and nature conservation. Accordingly, the trade fair's ‘love your ocean’ campaign in cooperation with the German Ocean Foundation, the information stands of the associations and institutions, and the international marine conservation award ‘ocean tribute’, which was presented for the eighth time this year, are in high demand – this year's winner is the ‘One Ocean Planet Foundation’ from Spain.”

Diving exhibits drew large crowds, with the Dive Centre, diving tower demonstrations and the international Dive Award generating traffic and conversation. Education and outreach were visible through the ‘boot for school’ programme in partnership with the Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum, which offered pupils sessions on paddling, sailing, surfing and diving.

For foil surfers and local clubs, the takeaway is clear: foiling has moved from niche demo to headline trend, and the coming season is likely to bring more demo zones, manufacturer rollouts and local try-out opportunities. Check show and club schedules for demo sessions and keep an eye on upcoming regional events where foil rigs and demo fleets are most likely to appear.
