Vallejo Color BSL System 48-Paint Set Arrives March 2026
Vallejo's 48-color BSL System paint set, built around Ángel Giráldez and Pedro González's Base-Shadow-Light method, hit retailers on March 6.

Vallejo's Color BSL System paint set landed on shelves March 6, giving miniature painters a purpose-built kit organized entirely around the Base-Shadow-Light workflow developed by Ángel Giráldez and Pedro González. The set, catalogued under product code VAL72183 (EAN 8429551721837), weighs in at 1.90 kg and delivers 864 ml of paint across 48 individual 18 ml Game Color bottles, each slot in the range assigned to a ready-to-use chromatic family rather than arranged by arbitrary color order.
Retailer listings first appeared as early as November 9, 2025, months before the product reached customers, signaling anticipation from distributors across Europe. The Vestergaard Group in Viborg, Denmark and SQ Distribution out of Eckernförde, Germany both carried the listing through the pre-release window, with the March 6 date holding firm across multiple storefronts.
The box goes beyond paint. Vallejo included three brushes referenced explicitly in the product spec: a Detail no. 1 (ref. B02001), a Detail no. 2 (ref. B02002), and a Dry Brush Small (ref. B07001), plus one exclusive miniature figure intended as a practice subject for working through the BSL method from basecoat to highlight. The set's positioning is deliberate: Vallejo describes it as "the perfect complement to the COLOR-BSL System book, the essential guide to master this technique," meaning the box functions as a hands-on companion to Giráldez and González's published instruction rather than a standalone product.
The Game Color formula underneath those 48 bottles is Vallejo's standard waterbased acrylic with permanent pigments, formulated specifically for adhesion to plastic and metal. According to the product copy, the paints dry to an opaque matte finish, are lightfast and waterproof once cured, and can be corrected with water or a small amount of alcohol while still wet.

For painters already working through the COLOR-BSL System book, the set removes the friction of sourcing individual colors that match the authors' intended palette. For those new to the BSL approach entirely, the inclusion of a dedicated miniature and three matched brushes means the box covers the full hardware side of a first project without additional purchases.
Acrylicos Vallejo S.L., headquartered in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain, manufactured the set. No retail price has been confirmed across the available listings.
