The parents downloading Dora: Explore and Play! onto their phones this week may be the same kids who grew up glued to the original show — and that generational loop is exactly what Budge Studios is banking on.

The Montreal-based studio launched the interactive 3D adventure globally on March 25, 2026, making it available on the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. Built for toddlers and preschoolers, the title was developed in partnership with Nickelodeon and is designed as an interactive extension of the new DORA television series, combining modern 3D visuals with gameplay focused on problem-solving, music and bilingual learning.

The release carries unusual weight for Budge Studios. In 2010, the company's very first app featured Dora the Explorer, making this return to the franchise 16 years and over 2 billion downloads later something the studio is calling a homecoming. "Launching Dora: Explore and Play! is a profound, full-circle moment for our team," said Michael Elman, Co-CEO of Budge Studios. "In 2010, we began our journey with Dora the Explorer as our very first partner. Today, many of the parents downloading our apps are the same ones who grew up watching the original show. We are honored to bridge that generational gap, bringing the high-quality CG animation of the new series together with the core educational pillars that have defined the brand for decades."

Gameplay centers on helping Dora and friends complete missions and tackle obstacles, with mini-games built around early childhood development themes including teamwork, rhythm and language exploration. Musical activities are woven throughout, reinforcing the bilingual learning angle the Dora brand has carried since its television debut.

Budge Studios is also known for titles like Disney Frozen Royal Castle, and its portfolio's claimed two billion-plus downloads reflect years of partnerships with major children's entertainment brands. The Dora relaunch extends that track record while tying directly to the updated character designs and high-quality CG animation of the current television series, giving young players a visual experience that matches what they see on screen.
