Clash Royale Season 82 brings Hero Balloon, Minion Horde Evolution to April update

Clash Royale’s Balloon Festival update put real ladder value ahead of cosmetics, with Hero Balloon and Minion Horde Evolution standing out as the two additions players need to know first. Season 82 began on April 6, and this is not just a themed skin pass, it is a progression shake-up that changes how fast you can access new power spikes and how you build around them.

Hero Balloon arrives with Coffin Cadets, a skill that sends Skeletons off the Balloon to crash into the nearest target, deal landing damage, and keep fighting on foot. Supercell says it can be unlocked through Pass Royale or bought from the Hero Shop for 200 Hero Coins from day one. Minion Horde Evolution goes the other direction, making each Minion invisible and invincible for a few seconds after taking damage before slowing their attack and movement speed. That tradeoff matters on ladder, because spell timing and cleanup become more important than simply flooding a lane with swarms. The Evolution can be unlocked through Pass Royale or with 6 Wild Shards.

The update also makes the reward path more pointed than it was earlier this year. Supercell moved Heroes earlier to Arena 5 in February, removed random Hero unlocks, and cut special deck slots from four to three: one Evo Slot, one Hero Slot, and one Wild Slot. That means fewer flexible slots, more defined archetypes, and less room to hide weak choices. Supercell also retired the Season Shop, added the Wild Shard to free Pass Royale starting with the April season, and shifted Evolution Shards and the Book of Cards into Milestone and Community Events.

For players chasing rewards and testing decks, the calendar is packed. Hero Draft Mode ran from April 6 to April 13, while the Royal Tournament also ran from April 8 to April 13 with all cards, Evolutions, and Heroes unlocked at Level 11. Triple Draft League follows from April 17 to April 26 with a global leaderboard, then the Balloon Race community event runs April 20 to April 27 as players push the Blue Balloon toward the finish line ahead of Red Balloons. Flooded Arena Draft closes the month from April 27 to May 4, and a May 1 to May 4 challenge adds a Battle Banner reward and emote.

Supercell’s April balance notes add another layer of immediate deck pressure, with nerfs and tweaks hitting Hero Goblins, Hero Ice Golem, Hero Knight, Hero Magic Archer, and Hero Mega Minion. For anyone climbing ranked, Season 82 is already more than a cosmetic detour. It is a month where new unlock routes, Hero balance, and a tighter slot system can force a deck change fast.
