Epic Games launches global Android app syncing chat and adding Epic Authenticator
Epic Games rolled out a global Android app update that syncs in-game and launcher chats across devices and adds phone-based Epic Authenticator for account security.

Epic Games rolled out a global Android update that brings cross-platform text chat syncing and a phone-based Epic Authenticator to more players. The update syncs direct messages and group message history across Fortnite, the Epic Games Launcher on PC, and Epic’s mobile apps, so conversations follow players across devices. Epic Authenticator offers phone-based two-factor authentication, simplifying security for Epic accounts that hold purchases, in‑game items, and social connections.
For players, the immediate practical value is seamless conversation continuity and reduced friction when switching between mobile, PC, and console. Gamers who hop from a desktop session to a mobile break will now find DMs and group chats available without hunting through different devices. The sync includes Fortnite messaging and the Epic Games Launcher chat, integrating social threads that previously lived on separate platforms.
Security benefits are equally tangible. Epic Authenticator turns phones into an authentication hub, making two-factor authentication easier to manage for accounts with payment history and inventory. Given how often mobile devices double as the social axis for friends lists, lobby invites, and trade discussions, consolidating authentication on the phone simplifies sign-ins and account recovery flows for many players.
Availability changed with this update: the Epic Games app is now available globally on Google Play, while the companion Epic Games Store app remains accessible via Epic’s site on Android and continues to be available in the EU on iOS. That means Android users worldwide can install the app from Google Play and get the chat sync and Authenticator features without side-loading. Players on iOS in the EU keep the same Store access as before.

This rollout reflects Epic Games’ broader strategy of treating phones as both social and security hubs. By connecting the Epic Games Launcher on PC, Fortnite, and mobile apps, Epic reduces fragmentation between platforms and leans into cross‑platform social systems that players already expect in crossplay environments. The change also matters for communities that organize events, scrims, or clan activity across devices, cohesive chat history helps keep coordination tighter and timestamps consistent.
To take advantage of the update, update or install the Epic Games app on Android and enable Epic Authenticator in account settings. Expect to see synced message history populate across Fortnite and the Launcher after signing in on mobile. For the community, this is a clear step toward smoother cross-platform social features and easier account protection; the next moves will be how Epic expands functionality, handles moderation across synced conversations, and integrates these systems with console players.
