Players who want ramp packages softened will see concrete reductions to several of Marvel Snap’s top-end staples. The developers’ February 26 OTA cuts Star-Lord, Master of the Sun from 4/5 to 4/3, Alioth from 6/8 to 6/7, and Fin Fang Foom from 7/12 to 7/10 while announcing buffs to underperforming Move and utility cards.

Star-Lord’s On Reveal text remains unchanged - "Next turn, you get +1 Energy for each turn you’ve ended with unspent Energy. This gains that much Power" - but the OTA states, "We’re taking away two Power from Star-Lord. He has performed above our expectations" and warned the change "should have a large effect on his multiple copy scaling that should tone down his win rate and metagame share." The update explicitly cites copying interactions with Absorbing Man, Grandmaster and Arnim Zola as factors in Star-Lord’s metagame impact.

Alioth’s change to 6/7 keeps its On Reveal - "Remove the text from all unrevealed enemy characters here" - with developer rationale that "Alioth is an effect that we would prefer to not be one of the strongest generic top end Energy cards and we suspect that 6/7 Alioth will be plenty strong enough when players want to target specific final turn combos." Fin Fang Foom’s drop to 7/10 follows similar intent; the OTA calls it "the de facto best high-cost character in the game" and says the reduction addresses its dominance as the primary 7-cost ramp target.

The patch leans the other way for underused cards. Magus is moved from 3/5 to 2/3 because the team found Magus "a little too difficult to use for most folks." Jeff the Baby Land Shark gains a point, moving from 2/3 to 2/4, with the OTA admitting "Jeff's buff is a bit late. We should have buffed it at the same time as Nightcrawler, that's our mistake and now he should have a role again. Hope you enjoyed your two weeks off Jeff, whoops!" The developers also said, "We're buffing a couple of underperforming Move cards. Rocket And Groot has really felt the impact of its nerf from last year" but the OTA fragments supplied do not include Rocket And Groot’s exact new stat line.

The update closes with quality-of-life notes: "Finally we'll round it out with some quality of life improvements with cards that previously have had poor interactions with skills." A separate Snaptracker Me entry dated 2/1, included in the aggregated materials, shows a prior change to Bruce Banner - end of turn 33% chance to HULK OUT - and developer comment that "Bruce will keep his power modifiers after HULKING OUT," a change aimed at boosting Banner’s play rate.

Community reaction has already rolled in; a YouTube patch review titled "This Marvel Snap balance update is mid af but we may as well talk ..." has about 2.8K views, and Marvelsnapzone is preparing analysis and deck breakdowns listing Rocket And Groot, Jeff, Magus and Sebastian Shaw among buff recipients. The OTA explicitly warned of "large shake ups" and, with Star-Lord, Alioth and Fin Fang Foom trimmed and Move and Magus propped up, expect ladder composition to shift noticeably as players test new builds in the days after Feb. 26.
