Ohsnap’s pocket-sized MCON magnetic mobile controller now shipping, $149.99
Ohsnap’s pocket-sized MCON magnetic phone controller is now shipping and available to order, offering console-style controls and pocket portability for mobile gamers.

Ohsnap has started shipping the MCON, a pocket-sized magnetic mobile controller that promises console-grade controls without the bulk of a dedicated handheld. Priced at $149.99 as reported by independent coverage, the MCON snaps to phones using MagSafe-style magnets and folds down to fit in a pocket while leaving the phone usable for texts and calls.
The controller packs a full set of inputs: two joysticks, a D-pad, four face buttons, index-finger buttons, full bumpers and hall-effect analog triggers. Company copy highlights deployable grips and a slider mechanism that protect buttons and joysticks when closed and let grips fold in to save space. Ohsnap markets the device as "the world’s most compact magnetic mobile controller, made for all phones," and says "MCON snaps to your phone with MagSafe® ease, no clamps, no bulk." The product also includes a Control Cover and a Kickback Mode that "allows you to remove your phone and prop it up for tabletop play."
Technical claims vary across sources. Ohsnap’s materials reference Mag-Res joysticks and tout "Ultra accurate, lower power consumption, anti-stick drift joysticks. Full size & better than hall-effect." Other coverage names full size TMR joysticks specifically. The company also lists hall-effect triggers in its specification set. MCON connects via Bluetooth, can pair with up to three devices and switch between them quickly, and ships with a magnetic ring for Android phones that lack Qi2 compatibility so magnetic mounting works across more phones.
The product traces back to a community-built prototype by Josh King, whose YouTube work and prototype sparked interest before Ohsnap refined the design. Ohsnap, founded in 2019, leaned on a crowdfunding run and social traction to reach production. The company states it raised over $1.5 million on Kickstarter with 16,000 backers and amassed "30M+ views across TikTok, YouTube and Instagram." Independent reporting cited a $1.2 million crowdfunding total; both figures are in circulation and the company-provided numbers include the backer count and CEO commentary. "The outpouring of praise and rabid desire from gamers to get their hands on MCON has been overwhelming," said Ohsnap CEO Dale Backus. "It started with the 16,000 backers who fueled our $1.5 million Kickstarter and has grown into millions of likes and views on TikTok and Instagram. Now, we cannot wait to unleash MCON on our fans and see it in the wild."
Early impressions from reviewers who tried pre-production units at CES and the finalized hardware praised Ohsnap’s refinements and portability while noting the magnetic mount can make a mounted phone feel slightly top-heavy during play. Ohsnap says MCON is available to order direct from the company and lists retail availability across major North American chains and carrier stores.
For mobile gamers chasing a travel-friendly, console-like feel without carrying extra hardware, MCON aims to bridge the gap between pocket convenience and proper controls.
