Archives of Nethys March Update Adds New Books, Errata, and Site Improvements

The Archives of Nethys wrapped up a busy stretch of updates with a March 7 front-page post that formalized several weeks of behind-the-scenes work: new books, a batch of Spring Errata, and a significant infrastructure overhaul that had already caused some turbulence for users. The headline content addition is Dark Archive Remastered, now configured as a proper remastered source with legacy mappings so older content doesn't get orphaned. "Dark Archive Remastered has been set up properly as a remastered source with legacy mappings; we hope to do the same for Treasure Vault and Guns & Gears in the future," the AoN team wrote. That framework matters for players running tables that mix legacy and remastered material, since it keeps both versions accessible rather than forcing a hard cutover. Two Adventure Path hardcovers also landed: Season of Ghosts Hardcover and Gatewalkers Hardcover, though the latter came with a small asterisk. AoN noted it "was deployed in a previous update but missed on the news post," meaning it had been live for some time before receiving an official mention. Monster Core 2 had arrived earlier, announced in the January 25 update alongside confirmation that post-upgrade bugs had been cleared. The Spring Errata applied to Guns & Gears, Player Core, and GM Core, but the most granular errata work touched Dark Archive specifically, framed as remaster-compatibility changes. On page 9, the psychic class received updated initial proficiencies, now explicitly listing "Trained in spell attack modifier," "Trained in spell DC," and "Trained in psychic class DC." Pages 10 and 15 addressed wording fallout from the removal of spell components in the remastered rules, with a blanket instruction to replace every reference to "thought components" throughout the class with "thoughtforms." Page 181 swaps "negative damage" for "void damage" in awaken entropy, while page 165 renames the modify memory spell to rewrite memory and converts all instances of "flat-footed" to "off-guard" within the lost ember adventure. Page 182 sharpens the quicken time ability with a clarified sentence: "Any creature that begins its turn in the area is quickened until the end of its turn and can use the extra action to Stride or Strike." The pactbinder archetype on pages 166-167, curse maelstrom feats on page 169, and the time mage on pages 184-185 each received changes as well, though the specific line edits for those sections weren't detailed in the update post. On the display side, AoN added printer-friendly support across all pages, with creature stat blocks getting the most attention. Recall Knowledge information was also pulled up and repositioned near the top of stat blocks for faster reference during play. The deeper technical story is the .NET infrastructure modernization that preceded all of this. "We've made a large change to the site's underlying .NET infrastructure, modernizing many components which hadn't changed in many years," AoN wrote, citing better maintainability and improved performance as the payoff, particularly for users who had been hitting errors during early Pacific-time hours. The upgrade introduced its own round of bugs, which the team addressed before the January 25 Monster Core 2 post, describing things as "much better now." Paizo has been clear that the remaster process doesn't invalidate existing content: "A pre-remaster stat block, spell, monster, or adventure should work with the remastered rules with no problem," the company stated in its remaster FAQ, adding that legacy content not appearing in remastered books will remain in online rulesets. PDFs of legacy products, however, will not receive updated rules text.
