Paizo Preview Sets Up Invasion’s Edge and Hellfire Crisis Missions
Paizo’s May slate sends Starfinder into the Wreck of the Returned and puts Pathfinder at war in Cheliax and Vidrian, with four short Society scenarios ready to slot into play.

Paizo’s May digital adventures preview put four Society scenarios on the table, and the release mattered most for groups tracking the current metaplots. Starfinder Society pushed deeper into Invasion’s Edge with a covert entry mission on Akiton, while Pathfinder Society kept the Hellfire Crisis moving with two short, low-level scenes of resistance in Cheliax and Vidrian.
The Starfinder side opened with Starfinder Society Scenario #1-21: Breaching the Wreck, a 3rd- through 4th-level scenario written by Kyle T. Raes. First Seeker Sarmak has finally found a secret entrance to the Wreck of the Returned, hidden in the Sloughscar Hills on Akiton, and the job is to get underground, secure that access point, and stay unseen. That foothold is not just a one-night raid. Paizo set it up as the doorway to two follow-up missions, one in the Wreck’s sublevels and one aimed straight at Elovai at the heart of the complex.

That setup paid off immediately in Starfinder Society Scenario #1-22: Rescue in the Wreck, which shifts the story from infiltration to extraction. The Functionary’s forces have abducted civilians and converted them into mindless servitors, and the mission centers on freeing the lost Starfinder Zizenzi and other captured Akiton citizens before that conversion becomes permanent. For Starfinder tables, that is the kind of scenario that changes the tone of a season: the fight is no longer only about uncovering a threat, but about saving people before the enemy can erase them.
Pathfinder Society’s two releases kept the pressure on at a much smaller time commitment. Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-17: Perch of Liberty is a 3rd- through 4th-level adventure playable in 2 to 3 hours, and it begins with the Windspire strix tribe going completely silent. Concern spreads through the tribes of Devil’s Perch in Cheliax and coastal Ravounel, and the Pathfinders discover Hellknights illegally camped in nearby silver mines and preparing an assault. It is a tight, low-level entry point for anyone who wants the Hellfire Crisis without a long table commitment.
Pathfinder Society Scenario #7-18: Freedom on the Sea moves to 5th- through 6th-level characters and runs 2 to 3 hours, with Alexandria Bustion as the writer. The Pathfinders are at the Anthusis Lodge when the docks come under attack from a vengeful Chelaxian naval captain, and the scenario frames the defense as part of keeping Vidrian free. Taken together, the four adventures gave both campaigns exactly what organized play needs most right now: short sessions, clear faction pressure, named NPC stakes, and a pair of storylines that keep Starfinder Society and Pathfinder Society advancing in public view.
