The Pickle Yard threw open its doors at 15 Jenkins Court in downtown Mauldin on March 7, 2026, capping the Maverick Yards redevelopment project with a facility that pairs six indoor pickleball courts with padel, golf simulators, F1 racing simulators, and a food program with genuine culinary credentials.

Co-founders Drew Parker and Jim Canavos, who previously collaborated on The Commons in Greenville's Unity Park, built The Pickle Yard inside a 5,000-plus square-foot space that also includes three golf simulators and F1 racing simulators. Outside sit two padel courts, which LivingUpstateSC reported are currently the only public padel courts in South Carolina, drawing players from across the region. Padel is a fast-growing racket sport that borrows from tennis, badminton, and squash, played on a court surrounded by glass walls that are live during play. Courts and simulators throughout the facility can be rented by the hour.

The venue's food and beverage area, Dilly's Oasis, is a U-shaped bar lined with TVs and roughly 30 feet of ADA-compliant bar space. The menu leans toward carefully considered bar fare, with bowls and salads among the offerings. Daylight Burritos and Simpsonville's Luna Cafe round out the food options as vendor partners. The culinary program also carries involvement from The Anchorage, a restaurant noted for its Michelin recognition, giving the kitchen a pedigree unusual for a sports venue.

Parker was direct about the vision behind it all. "I am most excited to see this place come to life! People walking in with a smile, ready for fun, and leaving with new friends," he said. "If Pickle Yard becomes that kind of community, built around great food, sport, and healthy living, then we've done something right." Canavos echoed that breadth-of-appeal thinking: "We want to have as many reasons as possible for folks to come in here."

That philosophy extended even to the amenity list. A grass volleyball court was added to the venue specifically because the daughters of Canavos and Parker play the sport.

The grand opening celebration ran from day into evening, with free pickleball clinics and open play, golf simulator sessions, padel court tryouts, and live music from The Vinyl Junkies. The facility sits near Mauldin City Hall, northeast of the Butler Road and Main Street intersection.

The Pickle Yard is open Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Friday through Saturday from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Reach the venue directly at info@thepickleyard.com.
