USA Pickleball Declares April 2026 National Pickleball Month With 230 Events
Two grant programs closing April 27 and 230 sanctioned events make April 2026 the most funding-rich stretch in pickleball's national calendar.

Two active grant programs, a 21-day application window, and 230 sanctioned events nationwide: USA Pickleball turned April 2026 into the most structurally backed month in the sport's history.
The national governing body officially designated April as National Pickleball Month, framing the initiative as a mix of beginner clinics, open-play sessions, local tournaments, and community gatherings stacked across the calendar. The announcement, made April 1, positions the month not as a one-off celebration but as a concentrated funding and participation pipeline.
At the center of that pipeline is USA Pickleball Serves, the organization's charitable arm, which has two active grant programs running simultaneously. The Grow the Game Grant Program distributes equipment bundles to schools and local groups; the Play It Forward Grant Program funds court installation, conversion, and facility improvements. Both close on April 27, and local groups can find application details through USA Pickleball's website.
"Whether you're picking up a paddle for the first time or competing at a high level, pickleball offers a place for everyone," said Mike Nealy, CEO of USA Pickleball. "We're seeing incredible momentum across the country, and National Pickleball Month puts that energy on full display. It's not just about playing. It's about building community."
The month also spotlights the inaugural USA Pickleball Wheelchair National Championships, scheduled for June 19-21 in Colorado Springs in partnership with Peak Pickleball. USA Pickleball frames the event as a direct product of its inclusion agenda and a tangible indicator that adaptive sport is no longer an afterthought in the organization's programming calendar.
For anyone planning a retreat or looking to build one, the overlap of grant availability and event density creates three concrete leverage points before the April 27 deadline.
The Play It Forward Grant covers court installation and facility upgrades, giving retreat venues with unimproved outdoor space or aging courts a real pathway to infrastructure funding before summer. Applications are open now.
The Grow the Game Grant addresses equipment access for retreat organizers running beginner or intermediate programming who don't want to pass the cost of loaner paddles onto participants. A successful application delivers equipment bundles directly to the group.
The 230-plus sanctioned events running through April include Golden Ticket tournaments and free or low-cost introductory sessions. Routing a pre-retreat session through a National Pickleball Month event is a low-friction way to arrive with recent competitive match play already on the résumé and a connection to a local club already in hand.
The April 27 grant deadline falls less than three weeks out. For facility operators and local organizers still weighing whether to apply, the window is closing fast.
