Lin Yun-ju Beats Truls Moregard 4-2 to Reach WTT Singapore Smash Final
Lin Yun-ju beat Truls Moregard 4-2 to reach the WTT Singapore Smash final; he earlier notched his 100th WTT Series win after downing Xiang Peng.

Lin Yun-ju defeated Sweden’s Truls Moregard 4-2 to advance to the men’s singles final at the WTT Singapore Smash 2026, with the semifinals held at Infinity Arena and the final scheduled for tonight during the Feb. 19–Mar. 1 event presented by Resorts World Sentosa. The victory sends the world No. 8 into a title match on Day 8 of the tournament and leaves Lin as the only Taiwanese player remaining in Singapore.
Lin’s run to the final included a straight-games round-of-16 win over China’s Xiang Peng that carried extra significance. In the Feb. 26 match Lin won 3-0, 11-8, 11-5, 11-4; FocusTaiwan reported Lin pulled away in the first game with a late three-point run fueled by aggressive shot-making, used his signature backhand flick to extend control in the second after a 2-2 tie, and overcame early unforced errors in the third by mounting an eight-point run from mid- and long-table rallies to close 11-4. WorldTableTennis noted the Xiang victory pushed Lin into the 100 WTT Series wins club, and FocusTaiwan listed Lin as age 24 while Xiang is 22 and ranked world No. 9.
In the quarterfinals Lin beat Germany’s Patrick Franziska 4-1 to reach the semifinals. Taiwan News reported the 4-1 scoreline and attributed to Lin a reflection on his match approach, saying the victory “stemmed from being decisive at every stage, including the opening exchanges.” Lin also said he “executed his training effectively and continues to enjoy competing,” remarks given to local media via CNA after the quarterfinal win. Earlier in January Lin had taken the WTT Champions Doha title, adding momentum to his Singapore campaign.

The semifinal opponent appears in sources with two spellings; the short result briefs and social posts list him as Truls Moregard while Taiwan News and a semifinal preview used Truls Moregardh. Regardless of spelling, the Swedish player fell 2-4, per the immediate reporting, handing Lin a semifinal victory that set up the same-night final at Infinity Arena. YouTube livestream metadata identified the session as “LIVE!| Infinity∞Arena | Day 8 | Singapore Smash 2026 Presented by Resorts World Sentosa | Semifinals.”
Lin’s profile through this stretch combines recent hardware and steady rankings: at 24 he is world No. 8, nicknamed the “Silent Assassin,” coming off the January WTT Champions Doha title, a 2023 WTT Championships men’s singles crown, and Olympic mixed-doubles bronze in Tokyo with Cheng I-ching. With the final looming tonight at the Singapore Smash, Lin will look to convert his 100-win WTT milestone and his Doha form into a second title in 2026.
