Zhu Yuling Awarded Macao Sports Merit Medal at 2025 Ceremony

Zhu Yuling, described by the International Table Tennis Federation as "the accomplished table tennis player representing Macao," was among 28 individuals and organisations honoured in Macao's 2025 Decorations, Medals and Certificates of Merit. The awards, labelled for 2025, were presented at a ceremony earlier this month and included recipients from sport, culture, education, philanthropy and industry.

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region announced the official 2025 list and noted that the awards "recognise their respective achievements, outstanding contributions, and distinguished services." The highest honours on the list were the Grand Lotus, bestowed on former MSAR Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng and former president of the MSAR Legislative Assembly Kou Hoi In. Local outlets and government statements together list 28 recipients either as individuals or organisations.

Sport-specific recognition ran beyond Zhu Yuling. Macaonews reported that "sports medals will be given to the SAR karate team that participated in the 15th National Games, as well as Macao table tennis representative Zhu Yuling." The Medal of Merit - Sports thus acknowledged both individual excellence and team success at national-level competition. Other categories named in the announcements included a Medal of Merit - Philanthropy for the China International Medical Emergency Team (Macao), and medals for distinguished service awarded to Tai Kam Un and the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Service.

Medals of merit covered a range of sectors. Macaonews listed Chan Iok Lin as the sole recipient of the medal of merit for professionals, while Nam Kwong Logistics Co. Ltd and Li Amber Jianming were named as industry and commerce medal recipients. Melco Resort & Entertainment's House of Dancing Water team received the tourism medal. Education prizes were conferred to the Macau University of Science and Technology, Keang Peng School and Kao Yip School. Culture medals were awarded to the Chinese Opera Association of Terrestrial and Maritime Dwellers of Barra, Macau; Lam Fat Iam; and Chan Iu Pui. Certificates of merit will be awarded to teams from Macao middle schools and organisations for their science and sports-based achievements, among others.

For the local table tennis community, Zhu Yuling's medal matters in practical ways. It raises the sport's visibility in funding and programming conversations, validates competitive pathways from school teams to international representation, and gives coaches and clubs a lever when advocating for resources.
