The Mighty Rootsmen kept their debut campaign moving on May 1 with a new video for With A Little Help From My Friends, a song choice that fits the project’s whole pitch: a reggae supergroup built on collective lift. The clip arrived after the project had already started its staggered rollout, with a Record Store Day physical release on April 18 and a wider streaming date set for June 26.

That timing matters because The Mighty Rootsmen are not being presented as a one-off novelty. Reggaeville has described the group as a once-in-a-generation collaboration of reggae legends and some of Jamaica’s most respected artists, with Toots Hibbert, Gregory Isaacs, Mykal Rose, Luciano, Sly Dunbar, and Robbie Shakespeare among the names shaping the concept. The project’s stated aim has been to do something new in reggae while making a record that leaves listeners with good feelings, and the new video helps put a face to that promise.

The song itself does some of the branding work. With A Little Help From My Friends is the kind of title that doubles as a mission statement for a project built around heavyweight voices supporting one another. For listeners discovering The Mighty Rootsmen now, the video gives an early read on the album’s tone, where familiar melodies are being reworked through a reggae lens instead of treated like straight tribute material.

The release list around The Mighty Rootsmen Strike Back! makes the scale of the project clearer. The June 26 set is listed as a 10-track album and includes You’ve Got A Friend, With A Little Help From My Friends, Waiting On A Friend featuring Ronnie Wood, Heart of Gold, To Love Somebody, Happy Together, Put A Little Love In Your Heart, Sundown, and Seasons In The Sun. Bandcamp says the album was recorded at Anchor Studios in Jamaica and reimagines rock classics with a reggae twist, while Ralph Sall is credited as producer.

The rollout has already changed shape once. Reggaeville’s 2025 coverage said the debut was originally set for July 25, 2025 on Bulletproof Recording Company, which makes the current campaign feel less like a simple release and more like a long-building launch. By pairing a familiar-song reinterpretation with a dated release plan, The Mighty Rootsmen are staking out a clear identity before the full album lands in late June.
