Analogue Reveals Five N64 Prototype Colorways, $299.99 Preorders Feb 9 8am PT
Analogue is releasing five unreleased N64 prototype colorways as limited Analogue 3D consoles; preorders start Feb 9 at 8 a.m. PT for $299.99 with matching 8BitDo controllers sold separately.

Analogue is reviving five translucent Nintendo 64 prototype colorways as limited editions of its Analogue 3D console, with preorders set to open February 9 at 8:00 a.m. PT. The Prototype Limited Editions will be offered in Atomic Purple, Extreme Green, Ghost, Glacier, and Ocean, priced at $299.99 and produced in limited quantities.
Analogue framed the release as finishing a piece of hardware history. “Five colors were officially prototyped for the original Nintendo 64. Unreleased. Until now. They were real. They were manufactured. They were never released,” the company said, while announcing the drop. The prototype designs were first uncovered in 2019 by Console Variations after a former Nintendo of Europe employee contacted the site, and Analogue spent more than a year color matching the translucent finishes to those originals.
The five shades aim to capture late 1990s translucent aesthetics. Kotaku’s reporting describes Ghost as “sea glass (and the star of the show, in my opinion),” Glacier as “milky white,” Atomic Purple as “deep plum,” Extreme Green as “neon green,” and Ocean as “cobalt.” Analogue positions the 3D as a modern, premium way to play Nintendo 64 games while dressing the hardware in colors that never reached store shelves.
Preorder logistics are tight. Notebookcheck notes, “Analogue is also promising that orders will be shipped in 24 to 48 hours,” and multiple outlets say orders will ship the following day or within 48 hours. The Prototype Limited Editions carry the same $299.99 price point as Analogue’s December 2025 Funtastic Limited Editions and are being marketed as $30 more expensive than the standard black and white versions.

Collectors and players who want themed controllers will see matching 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controllers sold separately at $44.99. The controllers go on sale alongside consoles at 8:00 a.m. PT on February 9 but will not ship until April. Analogue and 8BitDo are selling the controllers in the same five colors to pair with the consoles.
Scarcity is part of the pitch. Analogue describes the run as limited, and coverage of the prior Funtastic drop notes those limited editions sold out in less than two hours, underscoring the likely speed of demand for these prototype finishes. The Prototype Limited Editions join Analogue’s recent Funtastic releases and continue the company’s focus on collectible hardware for N64 fans who want a modern, plug-and-play experience with collectible appeal.
If you want one, set an alarm for February 9 at 8:00 a.m. PT, expect to pay $299.99 for the console with controllers sold separately at $44.99, and be prepared for a rapid sellout and staggered shipping between consoles and controllers.
